Summary This article examines systematically alcohol brand appearances in US popular music to determine the prevalence and contextual elements in US popular music. This article presents secondary research using qualitative content analysis. The writers were used Billboard Magazine to identify the most popular song in US in 2005 2007, the total is 793 songs. The lyrics for each song were analyzed independently for references to alcohol and alcohol brand appearance by two trained coders. As a result, of the 793 songs, 163 (21.3%) referred explicitly to alcohol and of those 41 (24.3%) contained an alcohol brand appearance. The writers found that alcohol brand commonly related with wealth, party, sex, luxury objects and other drugs. Major songs that content alcohol brand appearances were Rap and R&B/Hip-Hop. Based on the research, seen that popular music is a good way for alcohol industry to advertise their products. Moreover, lot of singers have created their own alcoholic beverage and advertised in their music. This qualitative assessment of popular music finds that average adolescent is substantially exposed to the alcohol music daily and there is potential risk of the alcohol consumption because references to alcohol may combine the persuasive appeal of advertising with narrative appeal and naturalistic representation of alcohol.
