Lee 5A Bill Gates as a Philanthropist William Henry Gates III or otherwise known as Bill Gates, founded Microsoft. Gates is one of the richest men in the world and a big philanthropist. Gates has used his fortune to help many people in need. By 2007, this was the second biggest philanthropy foundation (Bill Gates Wikipedia 4.1). Bill Gates has dedicated himself to caring and helping those in need around the world. Gates was born in Seattle Washington on October 28, 1955. He had intentions of becoming a lawyer and attended Harvard University. He later showed interest in computing and in 1975 Gates, with his partner Paul Allen, founded Microsoft. Microsoft rapidly grew and became the largest software developing company (Fetzer 237). With his fame and fortune gained from Microsoft, Bill and his wife Melinda founded the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Gates main reason for becoming a philanthropist is he just wants to give back to the worldwide community. Throughout his life he has shown that he pursues many IB traits such as thinker, because he had to figure out where his money would be most helpful. Gates donates his money all around the world. In 2006, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation had $28.8 billion in assets that has been set towards promoting global health and education (Bellis 1). Bill and Melinda share both a combination of their time and their treasure. They often travel to the many places around the world in which their money is helping or had helped at an earlier time. They love going to the many places in which they have donated money. Gates main action that lives up to being a caring philanthropist is that he is always giving to others. Gates has also donated a lot to Africa. He has also partnered with Warren Buffet for many projects, such as to

Thanks to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, there is now funding for research. All of Gates actions showcase that he is a caring person for many people around the world. Overall Bill Gates is admired most for two things. The first is that he founded Microsoft and pioneered the idea of personal computers. Second is that he is one of the biggest philanthropists in the world. Bill Gates is a dedicated, caring, and thoughtful person for others in need. He is a man that has become rich but has decided to share it with people locally and globally. Right and left he is helping the world with many issues. He has truly made a difference in the world by giving his time and money to improve the world.
