DEAD POETS SOCIETY (1989) Reflection questions

1. What two pedagogical approaches do you see reflected in the introductory part of the movie? First of all, I would like to undersatnd what pedagogical approaches are : They are the overall perspective used to plant and implement one or more instructional strategies. There are two approaches presented on this film: 2. What learning /teaching theories do you see implicit in each of these approaches? 3. How do you think the teacher and the students felt with each different type of pedagogical experience? 4. Which approach or approaches any do you remember seeing applied in your school days? Do you remember how you and your classmates felt with your teachers approaches? 5. Looking forward, how important do you think theory is for your teaching practice? As we all know, a classroom becomes a kind of laboratory where the teacher can establish a connection between theories to teaching practice. I consider that theory provides a standardize rationale for the activities that the teacher uses in the classroom; furthermore, the classroom observation and reflection enable us to depurate the theory and adjust teaching practice. Thus, concepts that the teacher acquires through reading and professional development are absorbed into the theory and they are tested in the reflective practice.
