Demonstration Lesson Pronunciation Training /l/ and /r/

Practice 1: Pronunciation /l/ Put your tongue firmly on the gum right behind the upper teeth. /r/ Roll your tongue but the tip of your tongue should not touch the roof of your mouth.

Practice Three: Basic Sentences Read two types of sentences two after your tutor. 1. Her lace / race was lost. 2. John was always right/light. 3. The judge thought that it was a real climb/crime. 4. My friend comes from a royal/loyal family. 5. The people erected/elected a hero.

Practice 5: Tongue Twisters


Try each sentence at least Three Times until you can read it smoothly after your tutor. Your tutor will ask you to read it repeatedly until you can read it smoothly.

1. Laura and Larry rarely lull their rural roosters to sleep.

2. Sri Lankans are really leery of Landry's rules.

3. Climbing crimes are lures for crowded clowns.

4. There are free fleas for all the loyal royalty.

5. It's the right light with the glimmer in the mirror.

Practice 6: Reading Practice


Read the following text TWICE paying attention on the pronunciation. Your tutor will correct your pronunciation while you read the sentences. <The Tree House> Rick and Misty live in a tree house which is covered with leaves. It is very weird to live in a tree house, but Rick and Misty think its neat. In the winter when it rains their house leaks and they dont have any heat. Thats when Misty misses living in a real house and she thinks about leaving. But she just grins and wishes for more green leaves to live in. <Cheap Pete> Pete lives near a peach orchard, and is a peach picker. Every morning, he leaves his living quarters and picks peaches all day. Peach picking leaves Pete with a good living, though his wages are sometimes cheap. So, Pete picks the peaches when they are at their peak, and he leaves the peaches without the pits in the green leaves.
