Foreword

The Light of Siam, a special publication by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand
(EGAT), chronicles the long history of Thai electricity from past to present. The book contains
absorbing materials as well as a fine selection of attractive photographic illustrations.
.
. .
The achievement of EGAT in developing a strong national power infrastructure while serving
the needs of Thai society is due to the dedicated works of EGAT staff, one generation after
another, who have made EGAT a solid organization. With shared convictions, EGAT employees
strive to achieve a common goal, the success of EGAT. In future, the strength and durability of
a nations economy will rest upon the security of its energy system. Most importantly, such a
system has to be environmental friendly.
( )
I would like to congratulate and express my admiration for The Light of Siam which
faithfully conveys EGATs strong determination in carrying out its missions. This is the book
worth reading. The bright Light of Siam was lit more than a century ago. Since then, it has
been, and always will be, bestowing prosperity for Thailand.
(Mr.Kasame Chatikavanij)
