Why Taurus Line Fault Locator & Analyser?

1. Fault locator is useful in accurately identifying all types of open & short circuit faults Please find out how to find the fault without fault locator (there is no alternate technology, even relays are not accurate). There are several scenarios where line was tripped and line maintenance officials couldnt find fault even for 3 days and the line either remains shut until fault found or line is charged by taking a chance. Powergrid has estimated loss per hour due to line shutdown is roughly one crore. Return on Investment: The cost of equipment will be recovered with one hour saving of down time in single/first fault and rest of the service (usage) from the equipment is at free of cost for at least next 10 years. According to the rough estimation by Powergrid, per fault they are going to save at least Rs.10 to 15 crores. On an average 5 faults in a year for next 10 years, estimated saving will be Rs.500 to 600 crores + additional features (usage, other than fault finding) as discussed below. (Powergrid has made it mandatory to have one LFL for every substation) 2. Useful in commissioning of new line

Presently this has been done by virtual patrolling, it requires two/three months and substantial cost involved in it. Powergrid is using our equipment for precommissioning certification, after which line is charged. Further it is also used to determine line length for passing bill of the contractor. 3. Useful in safe recharging of line after first fault got rectified It is mandatory to re-check the entire line before recharging. Presently it is been done by virtual patrolling. By using our equipment it can be done within 15 minutes without any additional cost. 4. Declare line as free from fault (no fault)

It is also an important activity. To declare a line (healthy line) as a healthy line involves lot of activity and substantial cost. Our equipment will declare healthiness of the line within no time. 5. Line Signature Analysis

Our Analysers Line Signature Analysis Study (LSA) reveals all the in-homogeneities prevalent along the transmission line. Serial comparison of this data enables the user inter deteriorating points along the line and thereby can do predictive maintenance of the line.
