A note from Ms. Hofer...

We've made it to June, and what a great journey this year has been! I feel so blessed to have worked with your children, and for being part of the community at St. Theresa! Our theme on Artists last month was a hit, and the PreK's worked very hard to finish their work to display in our art show. We had a great turn out, and I'm pleased that so many of you were able to share in the experience. We had some of the other classes tour our show, and I overheard a student making a comment on how they didn't know Pre-K's were so talented. This was powerful for me to hear, because I thought of how much they have developed throughout the year. During center time they are doing so much more than just "playing", as they are using their fine motor skills at the arts table, using their problem solving skills with the blocks, learning how to interact during dramatic play time, and moulding their confidence for years to come. We have a lot of activities going on this month, and some important dates to take note of, which are posted on the Pre-K calendar. Heres to a great month!

One little flower, one little bee. One little blue bird, high in the tree. One little brown bear smiling at me. One is the number I like, you see.

The Theme of the month: Summer Fun I've put in a special order for sunny weather this month...so hopefully it keeps getting delivered our way! We'll be exploring the theme of "Summer Fun" for the next few weeks. This includes outdoor activities, an ice cream party, hot dog lunch, teddy bear picnic, campfire sing along, and hopefully time spent outside enjoying the weather! I'll be posting pictures regularly on our classroom blog this month, so be sure to check it out!

Pre-K Celebration/Last Day

When: June 20th Parent arrival time: 10:30 (A.M) / 2:15 P.M) As a way of ending our year off together, I would like to have a celebration of success for the Pre-k's. There will be a short program on this day, which will include a performance by the Pre-K's, a slide show of our year together, and a celebration of their success! It will be the regular drop off time on this day, but I ask that you join your child in the multi-purpose room at the time listed above. Please ensure that someone from your family is there to represent your child, so they have someone to share their accomplishment with! If this is not possible, please let me know ahead of time so I am able to make other arrangements for your child. I look forward to visiting with you on this day!

Last Group Show and Share

Given that this is our last group show and share of the year, I would like to do something special. With your child, I ask that you brainstorm what their favourite memory of the year has been, and have them illustrate it on the attached piece of paper. Have them bring their drawing on the day of our group show and share for their item, as we will be sharing them as a class. Some examples include: a particular field trip, craft, or meeting new friends, etc. You may want to browse through our classroom blog together to help them refresh their memory! These will be displayed outside the class, so have them take their time and do a good job. Thanks for taking the time to do this assignment with them. Page 2

Family Day
Because we will be getting together for the Pre-K celebration, we will not be having a Family Day this month. I wanted however, to thank you for your commitment to our family days , and for taking the time this year to attend our monthly events. We've had an excellent turn out, and I know the Pre-K's appreciated having you there. Sometimes our time can be greater than any gift!
