Families Against Cuts in Education

STAND UP FOR OUR CHILDRENS EDUCATION

Following Lindsay Tischs visit to our school on Wednesday afternoon he went away with a very clear idea on how the budget cuts will affect us. It is so important that we as parents and caregivers of Intermediate and / or Primary-aged school children show we care about this issue and connect with parents nationwide to voice our concern. A Facebook page has been set up - https://www.facebook.com/SaveOurSchoolsNZ also a petition website which you can sign and forward to other people who you think may be supportive http://www.change.org/petitions/prime-minister-john-key-stop-pretending-that-your -decisions-in-education-are-going-to-help-our-kids Please forward these details to as many people as you can. St Andrews Middle School in Hamilton is discussing a public demonstration next week. The feeling is that parents and children have to be involved in this please let us know your feelings would you be willing to come to Hamilton and join other parents in a march or do you think it would be better to keep it local? Please contact us to express your opinion by emailing facenz2012.gmail.com or phoning Linda Williams on 07 889 7448 or 027 280 3102. Please write to or email the following people to voice your concerns: Lindsay Tisch at Hekia Parata at John Key at lindsay.tisch@parliament.govt.nz Hekia.Parata2@parliament.govt.nz john.key@parliament.govt.nz Parliament Office Private Bag 18888 Wellington 6160.

If we do not make a stand we will not only lose our technology classes but we may also face losing extra-curricular activities and school events that our technology teachers are also involved in. Primary schools will also be seriously affected by the change in teacher funding ratios. Our children will suffer! I know everyone is busy but please make time to at least write a letter or put something in an email. Thanks, Linda Williams Concerned Morrinsville Intermediate Parent
