Difference between Accuracy and Precision

Accuracy is the degree of conformity of a measured or calculated quantity to its actual (true)
value. In other words, Accuracy is ( in mathematics) the number of significant figures given in a number; "the atomic clock enabled scientists to measure time with much greater accuracy"

Precision is the degree to which further measurements or calculations show the same or
similar results The precision of a value describes the number of that are used to express that value.

Difference between Accuracy and Precision Accuracy A term used in measuring About: something The accuracy of an Definition: experiment/object/value is a measure of how closely the experimental results agree with a true or accepted value. Single Measurements: Quality: Uses: Doesn't speak of quality Physics, engineering, statistics etc.

Precision A term used in measuring something precision of an experiment/object/value is a measure of the reliability of the experiment, or how reproducible the experiment is A number of measurements are needed Speaks of quality of product Physics, engineering, statistics etc.
