Gamboa

Raymundo Gamboa Jacinto is a freelance bassoonist known for his strong stage presence and dedication to moving audiences with soulful and emotion-filled performances. His goal: educate communities about the bassoon and help them understand its importance and role in music today. Jacinto hopes to provide his audience with the opportunity to experience how classical music can embody the most deep rooted emotions. Currently Jacinto is a Graduate Student at Miami University and winner of the 2011 Miami University Concerto Competition. He is Principal Bassoon for the Miami University Symphony Orchestra and the Miami University Wind Ensemble. He is also a founding member of the Eclipse Wind Trio and Administrative Assistant for the International Double Reed Society Conference 2012 hosted at Miami University. Jacinto began his musical journey as a pianist in the 6th grade. In middle school he was introduced to the bassoon and instantly knew it was the instrument for him. In 2010 Jacinto graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno (With Distinction) with a Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance as well as a Bachelor of Science in Biology. As a student at UNR Jacinto studied bassoon with Dr. Christin Schillinger, Dr. Lindsey Bartlett and Mr. Eric Fassbender while performing throughout Northern Nevada. Jacinto also appeared as a solo artist with the Ruby Mountain Symphony performing the 3rd movement of the Mozart Bassoon Concerto in 2009.

Jacinto is inspired by classical icons ranging from bassoonists to orchestra conductors and composers. However, he is most inspired by the music itself, which encourages him to strive towards perfection. Jacinto has always had a strong desire to learn, whether it is medical science, physics or art and music. Jacinto has performed with Miami University Symphony Orchestra, Miami University Wind Ensemble, Miami University Kaldi Octet, University of Nevada Reno Orchestra, University of Nevada Reno Wind Ensemble, University of Nevada Reno Petite Woodwind Quartet, TOCATTA Orchestra, Reno Pops Orchestra and Truckee Meadows Community College Orchestra. After graduating, Jacinto plans to continue freelancing and building a personal bassoon studio. As a proponent of small chamber ensembles, Jacinto plans to establish a chamber music series. He will continue to embrace spending time with family and friends, travelling internationally, dancing and doing yoga in his spare time.
