13th June 2012 Dear Parents/Caregivers During Term three, the children of Year 7 will be studying our Change

through challenge integrated unit which looks at all facets of the human body and mind. A major part of this unit is looking and understanding the changes which take place at puberty. The unit aims to help students understand the changes that are taking place during puberty, that these changes are to be expected, and that others are experiencing them too. The class will be learning the proper names to describe parts of the body, gaining basic understanding of the ways these function, and learning that daily care routines are needed to cope with these changes. Finally, we will consider how other people influence our feelings about ourselves, and look at ways of dealing with this and other pressures -for example, from the media, especially advertising. All Parents/Caregivers, who wish to find out more information regarding what we will be teaching during our pubertal change unit, are invited to a meeting at school, in the Performing Art Centre on Wednesday 27th June at 5.30 p.m. The teachers involved will outline the objectives and activities in the unit for you. There will be an opportunity for discussion and the various resources used while teaching this unit will be on display. With kind regards Year 7 Staff Please complete and return to school by 15th June. Understanding Changes at Puberty I will be/ will not be attending the meeting. Signed ______________________
