College women are more at risk of sexual violence

Women attending a university are not free from the risk of sexual victimization. A study conducted by the National Institution of Justice revealed 3 percent of college women experience a completed and/or attemmpted rape during a school year. The report titiled, The Sexual Victimization of College Women, reveals this disturbing Bonnie F. These numbers have provoked fear, because it seems that college campuses have become hot spots for criminal activity. Previous research also suggests that women who are attending college are more at risk of sexual assault than women in the general public. This research suggests organizations need to improve the education and knowledge regarding sexual assault. A change in policy The sexual victimization of women on campus has serious policy implications for college administrators. The research revealed how female students attending a university are not free from the risk of criminal victimization. Schools need to inform students on what qualifies as an assault, and the importance of reporting one to authorities.
