ATTACHMENT 2

HaBaWaBa Rules
The teams:
• 5 players (4 + goalkeeper) into the water and 3 substitutes. They could be all boys or girls or
mixed.
• The players should be born either in year 1999 or in year 2000.
The dimensions:
• Competition field 12 x 6 m. maximum and 10 x 5 m. minimum.
• Pool depth 60 cm minimum.
• Penalty area 4 m. (green).
• Corner area – offside 2 m. (red).
• Goalpost dimensions: 2,15 m x 0,74 m.
• Ball Nr.3.
The Time:
• 2 periods of 12 min. and 3 min. interval between the periods.
• The time is continuous. The time watch stop after a goal is scored.
• The team in possession of the ball has no limit of 30 seconds.
• The referee can assign change of possession when there is evident delaying of game.
The Rules:
• The goalkeeper can pass the ball after a save or out only after the last player of his own team
swims by the middle of the field.
• A player with 4 major fouls can not re-enter in the game.
• An excluded player can re-enter after having touched the corner opposed to the secretariat, close
to his team bench. Another player of his team can renter at his place.
• A player is allowed to receive the ball with 2 hands but he has to shot the ball with one hand
only.
• The players are not allowed standing at the bottom of the pool for more than 5 seconds.
• A player can shot directly following a free throw outside the 4 meters area.
Points:
• 2 points for each period
• Score is kept according to each period result, so that, regardless of the number of goals, each
game can only end 4-0, 3-1, 2-2.
• In case of a draw at the end of a match, series of 3 penalties will be thrown until a winner is
declared.
• All players should shot the penalties starting with those at the bench at the moment of the end of
the regular game.
The Referees:
• One referee per game (one coach chosen among the coaches of other participant teams).
• Secretariat: 2 persons ( 1 for the time and 1 secretary chosen among the coaches of other
participant teams).
Important note: Water Polo rules apply in general with the exceptions mentioned above.
