Experiment 6 Activity Code : 6/2/2.

1/1, 2, 3 & 4
What do I want ? To find out the relationship between the speed of an object and distance in a given time. What do I need ? (Apparatus/Materials)

Chalk, ball, stopwatch, ruler and measuring tape

What do I do ? 1. A start line is drawn on the floor. 2. A ball is pushed slowly from the start line. 3. The stopwatch is started and after 5 seconds the ball is stopped. 4. The distance of the ball from the start line is measured. 5. The activity is repeated by pushing the ball harder, so that the ball will move faster.

What do I Find ?
1. Record the distance travelled and calculate the speed of the ball in the table below.
Situation The ball is pushed slowly The ball is pushed harder Time (s) Distance (m) Speed (m/s)

2. In which situation does the ball travel over a longer distance in 5 seconds ? __________________________ __________________________

3. Write out the formula of

calculate speed.

4. Based on your observation, state the relationship between the speed and distance of a moving object in a given time. ________________________ ________________________
5. Give two things that need to be kept the same. i. ______________________ ii. ______________________

6. State the thing that is measured in this activity. __________________________ 7. Predict what will happen if the ball is pushed harder. __________________________ __________________________
8. What can I conclude ? __________________________ __________________________
