EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
1. THIS POLL is confined to NCR and was conducted two days after the Philippine Senate, constituted as the Impeachment Court of the Philippines, voted to oust former Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona by an overwhelming vote of 20-3. The impeachment trial of Corona has been tied all along as an initiative of Malacaang, with the imprimatur of Pres. Benigno Aquino. The ouster of Corona seems to have boosted the image of Aquino in NCR where 6 out of 10 persons interviewed by StratPOLLS approve of him as chief executive of the land while 3 out of 10 said they do not approve of him with 1 out of 10 being indecisive in opinion.

Before the Impeachment Court handed down its decision, two polling firms conducted separate surveys on public approval of President Aquinos performance in office which we are showing in the table below alongside with the results of the StratPOLLS survey. The StratPOLLS survey was conducted AFTER the senators cast their votes. The table shows an incremental improvement of 8 percentage points from 57% to 65% in the approval rating of Aquino, at least in NCR, while those who disapprove of his performance grew by 16 percentage points which came mostly from the undecided of 31%.
