    A quality improvement program in several Texas cities led to significant increases in survival rates for patients suffering cardiac arrest. Survival rates improved most dramatically in Mesquite, rising from 3.0% in 2006 to 12.7% in 2011, a 423% relative increase. Carrollton also saw large gains, with survival increasing from 4.2% to 14.3% between 2006 and 2011, a 340% relative increase. Overall, the program more than doubled survival-to-hospital discharge rates across the cities studied over a 5-year period.
