    A fire incident occurred on June 22, 2012 at 9:30pm in the Textile Section of downtown Jolo, Sulu, Philippines. The fire razed over 320 business establishments and caused an estimated 40 million pesos in damages. Local authorities performed damage assessments in the affected areas. Initial investigations revealed that the fire started near an electrical socket attached to the back wall of the New Modern Trading store and quickly spread through clothing and other stocks due to electrical sparks. There were no reported casualties.

    Description:

    1. Report received from P dated 22 June 2012. Report disclosed that OOA 21 202045H June 2012, conflagration incident trans at vicinity Gen Arolas St, Brgy Walled City,Jolo,Sulu wherein MOLO 320 business establishments where totally razed by fire. 2. Estimated damages were about 40 million pesos. 3. The cause of fire is still to be determined. 4. Message relayed to OCD OPCEN through email (opcen@ndrrmc.gov.ph) III Action Taken: 1. Monitored the latest developments in the area. 2. Coordinated with Local Government Unit headed by Gov. Abdul Sakur K. Tan. 3. Emailed the latest developments to OPCEN and other stakeholders.

    Latest Developments: 1. Local authorities performed a quick DANA in the affected areas. 2. Initial investigation revealed that fire started near the wall where electrical socket was attached to at the back wall of New Modern Trading owned by Radzhata Sangkula Anni. 3. Further investigations howed that according to an occupant of the second floor in the name of Hadji Jul N. sangkula 75 years old, there was an electrical sparks and the fire spread faster after it caught clothings and other stocks at the said establishment. 4. No reported casualties 5. Progress reports to follow.
