Womens Bible study group
This is such a neat group of women! Every time we meet, I am impressed by their apparent desire to delve into the truth of Gods word. Our last meeting of the school year is at the end of June. During the summer months, I will try to spend time individually with each woman who has participated this year. My goal is to encourage those already trusting in Jesus Christ and to learn better where the others in their understanding of the gospel.

Please pray that God would grow the faith of each woman in the group. Pray that I might have discernment to encourage and challenge with the good news of Christ as we spend time together this summer.

Which Direction for the Church

We are encouraged by the steady growth in maturity and numbers at the Montauban church. Sandratana, the head pastor, preaches Jesus Christ faithfully from all of the Bible. The church council has some new members and they are beginning to discuss important, foundational issues, not just the urgent and material. They will have an overnight retreat in September to plan activities for the school year, but more importantly, to talk about the purpose of the church and goal of those activities. This is a new step for the church. Much has been assumed about the purpose of the church, the purpose of the worship service, the purpose of different activities. These unspoken assumptions have been the cause of many tugs-of-war over preferences, rather than making decisions based on the biblical mandate for the church. Pray that God would put a biblical vision for the local church on the hearts of the church council as they meet in the months to come. Pray for Mark as he leads them through this planning process.

STATESIDE: Mark will be in the States for a few weeks this summer to deal
with a dental problem. He will be able to spend time with our parents and will have the chance to visit a few churches that support our work.
