Eng Abstract Glycerol plant from Cotton Seed Oil by continuous ydrolysis process has a capacity of 1650 tons / year. Glycerol usability very much, especially as raw material for the manufacture of synthetic resins, ester gums, drugs - drugs, cosmetics, and toothpaste. Location of new plant in Gresik, based on availability of raw materials. Factories operated continuously for 300 days per year. In this study, the hydrolysis process of 'fat' splitting 'was chosen because it can continuously produce high purity products (up 99%), does not require a catalyst, reaction time was shorter (two hours), and the process is relatively easy separation of product. In this process, oil and water as the main raw material is reacted with the help of steam in the tower 'splitting' a 'counter current' at a temperature of 250 oC and pressure of 50 atm, into glycerol and fatty acids. Reaction products as well as inseparable at the top of the tower in the form of oil phase and at the bottom of the water phase. Then glycerol in purified water phase of the oil content of acids, water and impurities. To achieve the capacity of 1656 tons / year with 99% required product quality raw materials amounting to 3000 kg oil / hour, water 1270 kg / hour, steam 480 kg / hour and supporting materials of 11.06% NaOH 10.928 kg / hour, 3.743 bleaching earth kg / hour. Plant utility needs of water sanitation 829.727 kg / hour, cooling water 19657,067 kg / hour, water process 1357.8806 kg / hour, boiler feed water 3950,191 kg / hour, and water makeup 1093.956 kg / hour Keyword : Glycerol, Cotton Seed Oil, Continuous Hydrolysis
