Northern BC First Nations HIV/AIDS Youth Coalition TERMS OF REFERENCE DRAFT #2

VISION STATEMENT Aboriginal youth in Northern British Columbia will work in collaboration with the Coalition, leadership and other partners to create brighter futures by increased awareness of healthy safe sexuality. MISSION STATEMENT The Youth Coalition will aim for collaborative, prevention-focused programming that is fun, engaging and culturally relevant. GOALS 1. 2. 3. 4. To liaison and network with youths in the local communities to develop youth driven strategic plan to address the HIV/AIDS initiatives; To develop short, medium, and long term objectives as part of an action plan to deal with the challenges and barriers of services and programs to their communities To implement youth community plans by identifying, marshaling and focusing resources; To promote youth education, awareness, and prevention in HIV/AIDS; for both on and off reserve in collaboration with staff of First Nations organization health, education, and social service department; To attend Task Force quarterly meeting and report to the Task Force providing update of events they participated, coordinated, and hosted.

MEMBERSHIP As recommended by the Chair to have Youth. Youth will be defined as 15-29 years of age. Terms and Accountability Membership will be appointed every two years. The youth will seek re-election every three years. And renewal will be reviewed and approved by the Coalition.
