Allconnex scientist Kelly OHalloran is Australias top young water industry professional. Kelly, Manager Process Engineering, took out the national award for Young Water Professional of the Year at the OzWater12 conference, hosted by the Australian Water Association (AWA) in May. Kelly is an AWA Queensland branch committee member and won the AWA Young Queensland Water Professional of the Year in 2011, putting her in the running for the national award. Kelly was acknowledged for her outstanding contributions to the industry, including her work on the AWA Queensland committee and her involvement in the Scientists in Schools program where she works as a volunteer scientist at St Michaels College on the Gold Coast, attending periodically to talk about water treatment and careers in water. I have been very fortunate to have had supportive managers and colleagues throughout my university and working career. This award recognises the time spent doing that little bit extra to promote the importance of the water industry, said Kelly. Kelly was also recognised by her Allconnex peers with a cake and certificate in late May to celebrate her achievement.
