SUMMARY

This Technical Report was compiled by Robert Rathbone. It is divided into 3 sections: 1. Engineering Organisations 2. Occupational Health and Safety 3. Quality Systems Section one of the report introduces the engineering organisation Kellogg, Brown and Root (KBR). The organisations history, organisational structure, and global status are discussed in depth. In addition, the many past, present and future projects are highlighted. Section 2 of the technical report addresses the Occupational Health and Safety issues in the engineering environment. Examples of acceptable and poor OH&S practices are highlighted and a Hazard Report and Risk Management Audit applied to 10 poor OH&S practices. Valuation Exchange, a non-engineering organisation was chosen as a contrast to the engineering environment, highlighting the requirement of all industry leaders to promote OH&S, irrespective of industry stream. This was achieved by illustrating the various administrative systems and supporting documents that were available. Section 3 of the report discusses the concept of Quality Systems in industry. The objective of this section was to research an organization and highlight the quality documents available. XYZ Consulting Engineers (XYZ) was chosen as the focus organization.

Every effort has been made to represent the organisations and companies respectfully and without bias. All information gathered has been obtained from legitimate sources and have been referenced accordingly.
