The Lanzones Festival

The Lanzones festival is an annual celebration in the Island of Camiguin. It is being held during the month of October. It is a tradition of thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest of the Lanzones fruit which is the pride of the locality. The Lanzones trees grow all throughout the island and bear a remarkably sweet, tasty, and luscious delicacy. Because the Lanzones produces fruit seasonally, particularly ripening in October, the festival is usually observed in the last week of the said month. This celebration involves street dancing competitions and tableau presentations participated by different schools not only from the locality but occasionally also from other regions of the country. In addition, there are also bazaars, pageants and other activities which are mainly done in the capital town of Mambajao at the Camiguin Sports Complex. The Lanzones festival is a highly anticipated event for the Camiguingnon people. It is also one of the many tourist attractions which entice people not only from other parts of the country but also those from foreign nations to be part of the festivity.
