DEDICATED WEBSITE: The web site for the LA Viking cup is www.lavikingcup.us - We will update the website continuously. Please visit the site and help spread the word. OPENING AND CLOSING CEREMONIES: There will be an Opening and a Closing Ceremony with the participation of civic leaders and celebrities. MUSICAL CONCERTS: In addition to the two-game per day calendar, there will be a 30 minute musical concert daily between the two games COUNTRIES CELEBRATED: Each event day will be associated to each of the participating countries. Each country will be honored and celebrated through a Country Night: i.e.: Haitian Night; Canadian Night, New Zealand Night; Philippines Night ; etc. TELEVISION: All games will be broadcasted worldwide via Internet. Broadcast will be begin 30 minutes before the first schedule game. Broadcast Format calls for Coaches/Players interviews at half time and post game. ENTERTAINMENT: Currently the LA Viking Cup 2012 has started booking acts for the daily 30 minute concerts between games. Acts will be diversified and appropriate for a family event.

More than 50 Women National Teams were contacted and Team invitations continue to be sent worldwide as the LA Viking Cup is an Open Invitational Tournament for Women National teams. More than 20 teams responded positively. They are looking for funding within their respective football federations to enter the Cup many teams have asked us to extend the entry deadline to after the Olympic Games in August and we have therefore extended the entry due date to September 2012. Canada WNT, New Zealand WNT, Haiti WNT, and the Philippine WNT are the teams that have entered the LA Viking cup 2012 in addition to the La Vikings a team that will form in October 2012.
The LA VIKINGS is proud to announce the signing of two WPS veteran players for the LA Viking Team: defender/midfielder Joanna Lohman and forward Lianne Sanderson, both of whom played for the Philadelphia Independence in WPS last season.
Joanna Lohman A native of Silver Spring, Maryland, Joanna Lohman is a trailblazer. As a football player, Lohman was a two-year captain at Pennsylvania State University and the first four-time First Team All-Big Ten selection in the schools history. Lohmans 29-game career with the US Womens National Team included two years as captain of the U23 squad. Lohman also has 7 caps for the Full US National Team, making her debut in 2003-2004 at the Algarve Cup against Italy. She became a top scorer for the Philadelphia Independence in the WPS and after three seasons, Lohman joined RCD Espanyol of the Spanish La Liga in September 2011 where she was one of the only foreign players in Spains top womens league spending six month living in Barcelona and playing for Espanyol. Now Joanna Lohman is back in her hometown and playing for her local club, the DC United Women.
Lianne Sanderson hails from Lewisham, England. By eighteen, she was voted Player of the Match in the 2006 FA Womens Cup Final. In the 2006-2007 season she was Arsenals top scorer, notching forty-eight goals in forty-one appearances. In the 2007-2008 season she amassed fifty-two goals in thirty-one appearances with the Arsenal Ladies, exceeding her previous years results. The goal scoring rampage enabled Arsenal to win the Quadruple in 2007: The FA Cup, The League Cup, The Womens Premiere League, and The Champions League. She played for England in the 2007 World Cup in China, reaching the semi-final round and in the European Championships in 2009, reaching the final game. Sanderson played for England at all levels from U15, U17, U19, U21, and the Senior level. Lianne was drafted in 2010 by the Philadelphia Independence of the WPS and became the second highest goal scorer that season. Wanting to continue her world dominance, following the 2011 WPS season, Sanderson signed with RCD Espanyol of the top womens league in Spain.
