Swimming Teachers

Do you remember when you learnt to swim? Remember your own instructors? How did you reach your current standard? Maybe it all started at your own local amateur club? Now your local Tidworth Amateur Swimming Club Needs You! Could you spare an hour a week, Monday or Thursday evenings during school term time, to help out with the Pewsey and Tidworth Killer Whales ? We are a small, friendly club, ASA affiliated, and run by volunteers, with about 30 youngsters attending each training session at TLC. Owing to military postings, we are running short of qualified personnel to oversee the swim training. Please help us to ensure the future of the club by volunteering. Keep the Killer Whales swimming! Thanks for reading this! Personnel can work towards the ASA Swimming teacher qualifications, L1 (Teaching, but supervised by a L2) and L2 (Qualified to run and oversee a whole session) even to go on to L3 coach. Our remaining instructors are happy to advise and give guidance, and the Institute of swimming actually run the courses, at designated centres (one of which is, fortunately, Tidworth) which lead to their nationally recognised qualifications. I believe the current cost for the courses is 365 and 690 respectively, although small bursary's may be available from ASA Wilts. There is a L1 course being run at Tidworth in October please see http://www.swimming.org/calendar/event/asa-ukcc-level-1-award-forteaching-aquatics-qcf-tidworth If a teacher qualifies through the club, and then commits to teaching at least one weekly session for a year, these costs will normally be refunded by the club a year after qualifying. A qualified instructor will also be allowed one free club swimmer subscription Please contact the Club Secretary on 01264 791926 for more details.
