Applications of Ergonomics

Industrial Engineering - It is concerned with the interactions among people, machinery and energies as what the image shows.

Bioengineering Ergonomics is applied in bioengineering in a way that it works to replace worn or damaged body parts

Systems Engineering Ergonomics in systems engineering says that the human is an important component of the overall work unit.

Safety Engineering - Ergonomics applied here to focus on the well-being of human.

Military Engineering - Ergonomics is applied to it and relies on the human as a soldier or an operator.

ComputerAided Designs Ergonomics applied to it to represent the information about the human must be provided in computerized form.

3 Categories of Ergonomics

Physical - is concerned with human anatomical, anthropometric, physiological and biomechanical characteristics as they relate to physical activity.

Cognitive - is concerned with mental processes such as perception, memory, reasoning, and motor response, as they affect interactions among humans and other elements of a system.

Organizational - is concerned with the optimization of sociotechnical systems, including their organizational structures, policies, and processes.

Body Image Disturbance

Anorexia nervosa -is an eating disorder that makes people lose more weight than is considered healthy for their age and height. Persons with this disorder may have an intense fear of weight gain, even when they are underweight.

Self Harm- self harm behavior is one of the manifestations of body image disturbance. It is commonly observed in persons with borderline personality, which is likely to be due to the effects of childhood trauma.

Plastic Surgery Obsession- is a body dysmorphic disorder is seen as playing a large role in the lives of those who are obsessed with perfection. It is a disorder resulting in the sufferer becoming preoccupied with what they regard as defects in their bodies or faces.
