01 million connections is the fifth largest in the world and the second largest among the emerging economies of Asia. Today, it is thefastest growing market in the world and represents unique opportunities for U.S. companiesin the stagnant global scenario. The total subscriber base, which has grown by 40% in 2005,is expected to reach 250 million in 2007. According to Broadband Policy 2004, Governmentof India aims at 9 million broadband connections and 18 million internet connections by2007. The wireless subscriber base has jumped from 33.69 million in 2004 to 62.57 millionin FY2004- 2005. In the last 3 years, two out of every three new telephone subscribers werewireless subscribers. Consequently, wireless now accounts for 54.6% of the total telephonesubscriber base, as compared to only 40% in 2003. Wireless subscriber growth is expectedt o b y p a s s 2 . 5 m i l l i o n n e w s u b s c r i b e r s p e r m o n t h b y 2 0 0 7 . T h e w i r e l e s s t e c h n o l o g i e s currently in use are Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Code DivisionMultiple Access (CDMA). There are primarily 9 GSM and 5 CDMA operators providing gmobile services in 19 telecom circles and 4 metro cities, covering 2000 towns across the country organization. Each contact point may retain a relative independence concerning criteria of customer satisfaction such as personnel, speed, reliability, and pricing.The objectives of this study are to find the customers attitudes towards the TATA Indicomservices and to know the reasons for cancellation of the services. This study helps to findout the factors affecting purchasing behavior of telecom products and to know customersopinion to the services offered by the TATA Indicom.3
