Methodology: The heat engine apparatus is first set-up by connecting a hollow metal cylinder to it via rubber tubing.

The experiment required obtaining the values of volume, temperature and pressure of the gas in each part of the heat engine cycle. Such was done by putting Thermo sensor in the reservoir where the cylinder is, reading volume on the heat engine calibrations and connecting Gas Pressure sensor to one of the rubber tubing of the heat engine apparatus. The cylinder is then placed unto a cold reservoir. Simultaneously, the volume, pressure and temperature were recorded. The same was done when a mass was added on the piston of the engine on cold reservoir, then on hot reservoir with added mass, on hot reservoir without added mass, then back to the cold reservoir, and thus completing the cycle. Observations were made and data were then recorded and plotted. P-V diagrams were made and interpreted.
