NGCP conducts fire drill in Southeastern Mindanao Area The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), through its Mindanao District 5 Office, recently conducted a fire emergency preparedness and evacuation drill at the office grounds in New Loon, Mintal in Davao City. The activity conducted last June 22 aimed to enhance fire safety awareness among employees and test the effectiveness and reliability of the evacuation plan during fire emergencies. Said exercise was participated in by members of the District 5 & Maintenance and Testing Division B (MTD-B) Emergency Response Teams (ERT) or a total of 57 drill participants, who led the demonstrations on combating and controlling fire. The drill also familiarized the participants with their respective roles as members of the ERT. Lecturers from the Bureau of Fire Protection, namely SFO3 Ariel B. Capesos, FO3 Renato Basio, and FO1 Cecil C. Sawan, also served as the drill evaluators. The drill scenario involved fire-fighting simulation and first aid or medical treatment of supposedly injured personnel. This drill was conducted in compliance with NGCPs Integrated Management System (IMS) policy and DOLE Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSAS 18001:2007) requirements. NGCP is a privately owned corporation in charge of operating, maintaining, and developing the countrys power grid. It transmits high-voltage electricity through power superhighways that include the interconnected system of transmission lines and towers, substations and related assets.
