EXPANSION: STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGING TECHNOLOGY

Expansion: Staff Development and Managing Technology Technology is certainly all around us and is constantly changing. It plays an important part in our daily activities, our thoughts, emotions, and very much so, our livelihood. Educational institutions have progressed in their educational objectives right along with the changes in technology. Much of academia today is focused on preparing students for life (full of technology) after school via the introduction of and to a plethora of technological equipment and resources. As educators it is imperative that we first educate ourselves before we can educate societys children. In order to gather a wealth of knowledge educators have to exhaust all resources available. In my quest to be most effective in the classroom, whether it be as a journalism, English, or creative writing professor the following goals are what I aspire to set in motion to be successful:

Seek assistance from the various technology specialists within the school system regarding technology integration Communicate with other journalism educators in various school systems to gain knowledge on successful practices in incorporating technology in journalism curriculum Seek online software tutorials of both software and hardware that could be beneficial and effective in the classroom Frequently research seminars and training available to educators in both technology and journalism/English fields of academia

I am confident that by achieving these few goals will expand my knowledge of technology and its effective use in my desired field of study to successfully foster student comprehension of the material presented. Those are my goals up frontno experience or knowledge of staff development from the realm of academia. However, within my current career field the importance put on technology and staff development is infinite.
