LIFE 2012 From Citizenship to Leadership

The world has never faced such a daunting set of challenges as it does today. As we have moved into a new millennium, the future looks even more uncertain. It is time to empower the young to be able to think in new ways and be ready to take bold decisions, and to develop creative leadership traits for a better understanding of a multi- faceted and interconnected world.

Leadership Initiatives For Excellence

The global economy faces significant regional and global headwinds with a sharp rise in global risk aversion. Indias quarterly GDP growth has dropped to a 9 year low of 5.3% creating new short term challenges in its fight against poverty even as long term risks such as climate change continue to loom large. The global economic and political landscape will largely depend on how we manage many of these issues over the next decade and beyond.

Will the global financial system & its economic institutions ultimately ensure healthier, quality growth in the long term? Can these global risks be transformed into business opportunities? Does technology hold the key to mitigating risks and mobilizing community?

It is in this context that TGELF convenes LIFE this year under the theme From Citizenship to Leadership. Over three days participants will immerse themselves in workshops to deliberate issues, generate insight and guide action to mitigate and eventually overcome global risks.
