1. INTRODUCTION
The Diematic-m Delta control panel is specifically designed for use in medium and high-power heating systems. It is fitted on the DTG 320 Eco.NOx and DTG 320 S De Dietrich boilers. The boiler shall be connected by a qualified professional. Strict compliance with these connecting, starting-up and operating instructions is a precondition for the correct operation of the boiler.
2. GENERAL
2.1 Overview
The Diematic-m Delta control panel is factory-equipped with a programmable regulator driven by the outside temperature, which can control a boiler circuit by acting upon a 2-stage burner (DTG 320 S and DTG 320 Eco.NOx). The regulator prevents the installation and the heated area from freezing. This protection may be programmed for long periods of absence: - by selecting the number of days; up to 99 days, - by an annual programme with 10 pre-programmed and programmable time slots during which all or part of the installation may be turned off, - the regulator allows anticipating or optimising the heating by calculating the time at which the heating must be started to reach the required room temperature at the set time. When fitted with the optional domestic hot water sensor, (package DB 116), the control panel also offers the facility to regulate (on a priority basis) and programme domestic hot water production. It can control on the same way a swimming pool circuit or a second domestic hot water production. Adding 1 or 2 optional boards (package DB 115) allows the control panel to control in addition one or two heating circuits with mixing valve. When supplemented by one or more room sensors (analogic remote control - package BG 20 or interactive remote control - package DB 118), the DIEMATIC-m Delta control panel becomes self-adapting, i. e. it adapts itself the heating curve of each circuit to the characteristics of the installation and to the actual heating needs without any prior setting. The DIEMATIC-m Delta control panel is fitted with a mobile interactive module which may be: - either fitted on a wall bracket (package BD 117) in any particular location (heated area, wall cabinet, caretakers office) in order to offer: a remote control facility for all heating functions easier accessibility a means to keep it out of reach of unauthorised persons - or simply removed for: safe keeping allowing copying the whole of the programmes and of the parameters from one installation to another.

Cascaded installation The Diematic-m Delta control panel can control up to 10 boilers in cascaded configurations. Only the first of these boilers is fitted with the Diematic-m Delta control panel. All other boilers are fitted with the K control panel and an optional "cascade" board (package AD 135). All boilers are powered separately; On/Off and Auto/Manual switches allow the individual and independent operation of each boiler. Remote management DIEMATIC-VM or networking with
The Diematic-m Delta control panel is initially designed to communicate with compatible remote management or Technical Building Management systems. Its basic version also may be supplemented with 1 or more (up to 20) DIEMATIC-VM regulators (package AD 120) which allow controlling two additional hydraulic circuits each. These circuits may be: - a heating circuit equipped with a three-way valve, - a high-temperature heating circuit, - a heating circuit for a d.h.w. calorifier, - an auxiliary circuit. Other functions The Diematic-m Delta control panel also offers the following functions: - optimised hydraulic network management:
controlling the load pump delay between shunt pump and isolating valve control of the behaviour of the flow in the
decoupling cylinder by means of a specific algorithm - the use of a flue gas sensor with each boiler (DB 120) - connecting the telephone remote control relay DRT with multi-frequency encoder (package AD 81). The standard supply of a "DIEMATIC-m Delta" control panel for use with a circuit without valve includes: - 1 external sensor measuring the outside temperature, - 1 boiler sensor measuring the temperature of the water in the boiler.

The "DIEMATIC-m Delta" control panel allows regulating the boiler temperature according to the outside temperature by acting upon the burner. Boiler thermostat H is set to the maximum position. The safety thermostat K with manual reset (set to 110C) ensures safe operation. In addition, connecting a room sensor allows making the heating curve self-adaptive (gradient and parallel offset). The "installation antifreeze" function is active in all operating modes. It starts as soon as the outside temperature drops to the limit value pre-set to 3 C. (see pink booklet "Fitter settings table" # LIMITED TEMP., line OUT. ANTIFREEZE) Domestic hot water regulation is performed by the regulator acting upon the load pump, thanks to the calorifier sensor. DHW looping may be performed via the "AUX" auxiliary contact, which is programmed separately. The regulator also offers protection against "Legionella pneumophilia", which are responsible for the Legionnaires disease.
Miniature operating instructions: an instructions manual with brief instructions (programming, temperature setting, ...) can be found in the flap of the mobile interactive control module .

Such a control may be used for each of the connected circuits. - Any deviations activated on the remote control (BG 20) have priority over the deviations selected on the central regulator.
"AUTO" mode
Allows the automatic operation of the various heating (P1, P2, P3 or P4) and domestic hot water programmes for each day of the week. - Refer to section 5 for details about selecting the programme for each circuit (A, B and C).

Antifreeze mode
The heating and domestic hot water systems are off, but the installation still is monitored and protected from freezing. The room temperature in "antifreeze" mode is pre-set to +6C. G Immediate antifreeze for N days: - Press key ANTIFREEZE". : the display shows "DAYS G Permanent antifreeze - Press key for 5 seconds: the antifreeze function becomes active for an illimited period of time. When this function is active, a steady arrow is displayed above key .
- To cancel the antifreeze mode, select any other operating mode via the blue keys (e.g. G Calorifier antifreeze - The calorifier antifreeze function is automatically activated when the calorifier temperature drops below 4C; the water in the calorifier is then heated to 10C. ).
- Set the required number of days (current day = 1) using keys and (up to 99 days).
- The antifreeze mode becomes active as soon as key is pressed or after 2 minutes and a steady arrow is displayed above the key. - The antifreeze mode is cancelled by resetting the number of antifreeze days or when the set time has elapsed. G Antifreeze from a specified date - Press key - Set the required number of days (current day = 1) using keys and (up to 99 days).
- Press key once again and set the date on which the antifreeze mode is to be activated using keys and .
- The antifreeze beginning date is saved as soon as key is pressed or after 2 minutes and a flashing arrow is displayed above key up to the date when the antifreeze function becomes active. - As soon as the antifreeze function becomes active, the arrow becomes steady. - The antifreeze mode is cancelled by resetting the number of antifreeze days or when the set time has elapsed.
Notes - The antifreeze protection is provided for the calorifier and each heating circuit regardless of the setting of the relevant room sensor. The room temperature in "antifreeze" mode is pre-set to +6C. This value may be changed if a room sensor is provided (see APPENDIX 1 "User" settings table, paragraph # SETTINGS, line ANTIFR. ROOM A, B or C). - The permanent "antifreeze" mode may also be selected via the optional telephone remote control.
N.B. In some cases (e.g. schools), the use of the annual clock (# ANNUAL PROG. see section 6.5) with 10 switch-off periods with antifreeze monitoring may prove to be more suitable.

Notes: - This function is independent of the "automatic heating switch-off" function, which switches the heating off in summer when the outside temperature exceeds the outside heating switch-off" temperature - see "User settings" (SIM/WIN TEMP). In this case only the "Su" symbol is displayed. - This key is inactive on interactive remote controls configured for a "SINGLE CIRCUIT" (see the instructions supplied with the optional unit). - When the heating is off while the Summer mode is active, the pumps are started once a week for one minute, to prevent fouling.

The keys for access to settings and measurements and the programming keys located under the flap on the lefthand side of the control module allow modifying the programmes and setting various parameters. This display is active during the "Comfort" G PERMUT (cascaded installations only) The user can select the permutation leading boiler: 1, 2..., 10 or "AUTO". In the "AUTO" position, the regulator automatically changes the leading boiler after every 50 hours of operation of the 1st stage of the boiler burner. Example: Cascade with 3 boilers. PERMUT 2 means that boiler 2 is the leading boiler and that the operating order is 2-3-1.
G SUM/WINT allows setting the (stabilised) outside temperature above which the heating function is automatically switched off: - the heating pump(s) is (are) switched off - the burner only starts for producing domestic hot water. -the Su symbol is displayed. If this parameter is set to OFF, the heating will never be switched off automatically.
Note: this setting is not accessible with interactive remote controls configured for a "SINGLE CIRCUIT".
G CALIBR. OUT (outside sensor calibration) allows correcting the temperature displayed on the control panel in relation to the actual outside temperature, especially if the cable is very long. Measure the outside temperature with a thermometer, then set the variation desired on the display with keys or .
Example: actual outside T measured with a thermometer = 10C, T displayed on the control panel 11C: set CALIBRATION on - 1 with the help of key .
Note: calibration only becomes effective after some seconds, and the display is only corrected after this time.

G CALIBR. ROOM (room calibration) - with room sensor: allows correcting the room temperature displayed on the control panel in relation with the actual room temperature. Measure the room temperature with a thermometer, then set the variation desired on the display with keys or . - without room sensor: allows calibrating the regulator in relation with the actual room temperature. Measure the room temperature in a typical room with a thermometer, then set the variation desired for the room temperature on the display with keys or . This setting is to be carried out only after the temperatures are stabilised. Example: set T = 20C, measured T = 19C: set CALIBRATION on + 1. 7. MESSAGES - ALARMS

To erase the message, briefly switch the power supply of the boiler off with the On/Off switch and call your fitter. It is however still possible to operate the relevant part of the installation in Manual mode. See notes below.
Notes: In the event of a sensor failure, the installation continues to operate with the following restrictions: - BOILER S. FAIL and OUTSI S. FAIL: The whole installation switches automatically to Manual mode: the burner is controlled by the boiler thermostat H. All pumps are operating and the valves are no longer powered. They may be controlled manually if necessary. Temperature setting is carried out by means of boiler thermostat H. - OUTL S. A, OUTL S. B and OUTL S. C FAIL.: The relevant circuit switches automatically to Manual mode, the pump operates and the valve is no longer powered. It may be controlled manually if necessary. Temperature setting is carried out by means of the boiler thermostat and of the valves. - SWIMING S. FAIL: Automatic operation in configuration without swimming pool sensor. - ROOM S. Installing and fastening the control panel are described in the mounting leaflet located in the instructions supplied with the boiler.
Recommended locations The external sensor must be installed on the most exposed and coldest outer wall of the building (north or north-west), protected from direct sunlight. It should be placed on a corner of the building or, if this is not possible, on the middle of a wall, so as to be directly affected by the weather conditions. It should be easily accessible.

All the connections shall be made to the terminal block provided for that purpose in the boiler control panel. Proceed as follows to open the control panel : Remove the boiler top panel. Unhook the intermediate front panel. Remove the upper front panel.
Remove the connection board cover. After removing the 4 fastening screws, tilt the front cover to open the control panel. Fasten the cables to the board supporting plate using cable clamps (3 cable clamps supplied in a bag) that are to be assembled as shown opposite.
Cables routing
The extra low voltage sensor cables must be separated from the 230 Volt main supply cables in order to avoid electromagnetic interference problems. Inside the boiler - Boilers with one cable channel: Place the 230 V main supply cables on one side of the cable channel and the sensor cables on the other. The cables shall be held in place on either side using plastic ties. - Boilers with two cable channels: Place the 230 V main supply cables in one cable channel and the sensor cables in the other. The cables shall be held in place using plastic ties.

Outside the boiler Use 2 cable ducts or channels with a minimum distance of 10 cm between them. Failure to comply with these instructions may lead to interferences and regulator malfunction, or even damage the electronic circuitry.

The Diematic-m Delta regulator offers the possibility to control a swimming pool circuit in 2 cases: 1. Diematic-m Delta controls the primary circuit (boiler / exchanger) and the secondary circuit (exchanger / pool). - Use the HCZP D function and set its value to a temperature corresponding to the requirements of the exchanger (generally 80C). - Set the gradient of circuit A to 0. - Configure circuit A as a swimming pool: CIRC.: SWIM. - Connect the heating pump of the primary boiler / exchanger circuit to the heating pump output A. The HCZP D temperature is provided during the Comfort periods of programme A both in summer and winter. - Connect the secondary sensor (optional package DB 116) to the S.AMB A input across 2 and 3. This sensor indicates the temperature of the water in the pool. Its value may be read on #MEASURES under SWIM.P.T. - The value may be set via from 0,5 to 35C.

Time programming of the secondary circuit pump As the pump of the secondary circuit is connected to the AUXILIARY output, select AUX OUT: POOL. This will cause the pump connected to the AUX output to be controlled during the Day operating periods of circuit A. Stopping the pool heating system To stop heating the pool, a switch with gold-plated contacts may be connected to the ROOM SENSOR (A) input across 1 and 2. When this switch is closed, the pool is off, without antifreeze protection in winter. On the other hand, the primary circuit can be protected from freezing by selecting SWIPM P.T.: AF with keys and . In this case, the above mentioned switch remains open.
In all events, contact your swimming pool fitter for the measures required for winterising.

- # LIMITED TEMP.: G MAX ... : In circuits B and C, this setting limits the outlet temperature of the relevant circuit. Note: if any MAX. temperature is modified, it may also be necessary to move the built-in boiler thermostat stop which limits the maximum boiler temperature to 85C. To do so, pull out the thermostat button and move the stop with a pair of pliers to the hole corresponding to the limit temperature desired. Caution: in the case of a floor heating system, the maximum water temperature after the mixing valve (line MAX. CIRC) must obligatorily be set to 50 C (see the "fitter" settings table). G HCZP: In the Winter mode, the HCZP parameter is used to set a minimum operating temperature (which may be constant if the circuit gradient is zero) for the boiler circuit (regardless of the type of installation) to control a unit heater or a swimming pool-type circuit, for instance. - # MISCELLANEOUS DSP ALTERNED: allows selecting the display mode: display of time and day (TIME-DATE) display of external temperature (OUTSI. TEMP) or alternated (DSP. ALTERNED) In winter, the auxiliary circuit output is disabled, and the calorifier is loaded by the boiler. When switching to Summer mode, the domestic hot water is no longer heated by the boiler, and the auxiliary output is used to control a device which ensures the loading of the calorifier by means of an electric resistance (thermostatic control): in this case, the symbol is displayed. Important note: when the DHW ELECTRIC function is used, it is not possible to control a domestic looping pump with the auxiliary circuit. LEG PROTEC: the calorifier is overheated to 70C every Saturday from 4 to 5 a.m. This legionella protection function prevents the development of legionella pneumophilia, which is responsible for the "Legionnaires disease. Note: in this case, the maximum boiler temperature must be raised to 85C, and the DHW set temperature to 80C. In this case, a mixing device must be used to ensure that the temperature of the water in the distribution system does not exceed 60C. S.F. BOILER (solid-fuel boiler): ON: this setting is required when a solid-fuel boiler is connected to the same flue as the fuel-oil burner. In this case, burner operation is controlled by a flue gas thermostat connected to CS, terminals 5 and 6. In addition, the burner fault indicating function is disabled. OFF: normal case, the burner fault indicating function is active. BURN.MIN.RUN: the minimum burner operating time is set as to prevent short burner cycles. HYSTERESIS A and BURNER DELAY: the change in stage is performed according to a simple delayed differential algorithm with a check of the residual power. Differential A controls the operation of the last stage switched on. The burner delay function generates commands to change the number of stages with the assistance of a specific check algorithm. When the required temperature is exceeded, the delay is divided by two. The factory setings meet most needs; it is not advised to change them. B.P.DELAY: delay for closing the isolation valves and stopping the return injection pumps (type 1 installation) or the shunt pumps (type 2 installation). RELIEVE B: boiler relieve; when this function is active, the heating system cannot start up unless the boiler temperature has reached the pre-set minimum (the 3way valves are closed, the pumps are switched off).
BAND WIDTH: the set value (valid for all valves) can be increased if a fast valve is used and decreased if a very slow valve is used (e.g.: thermal valve). BOIL/3WV SHIFT: minimum temperature difference betwen the boiler outlet and the valve outlet(s) if a circuit with a valve has been connected. The AUTO position corresponds to an automatic parameter adjustment. The calculated value may be displayed in # PARAMETERS. H. PUMP DELAY: the heating pump(s) switch-off delay is used to prevent boiler overheating, which could make the safety thermostat trip accidentally. HW. PUMP DELAY: the DHW loading pump switchoff delay prevents water that is too hot from being delivered to the heating circuit after the calorifier has been loaded. It also prevents boiler overheating, which could make the safety thermostat trip accidentally. ADAPT.: activating or inhibiting automatic adaptaton. DHW TOTAL: allows selecting the following options when a hot water calorifier is connected: - DHW TOTAL: absolute priority for domestic hot water preparation: heating pumps are switched off, valves are closed. - DHW SLIDING (1) : "DIEMATIC-Delta" checks if the boiler is capable of heating both the heating system and the calorifier. If so, the valve circuit(s) pump(s) operate simultaneously with the calorifier loading pump. The valve remains closed as long as the boiler is not capable of heating the installation and the calorifier. When the power is sufficient, the valve begins to regulate. - DHW NO PRIOR. (1): heating is not switched off while the calorifier is being loaded. Important: if there is a boiler cicuit, the temperature in the radiators may reach the maximum value programmed for the boiler while the calorifier is being loaded. DHW: BOILER, ELECTRIC: this setting allows selecting the boiler loading mode. In BOILER mode (factory setting), the domestic hot water is prepared, both in winter and in summer, by an exchanger-type calorifier, where the primary is connected to the boiler. In ELECTRIC mode, the domestic hot water is prepared by the boiler in winter and by an electric resistance heater in summer. With this operating mode, the auxiliary circuit output is used to control the calorifier loading mode inversion when switching from the Winter to the Summer mode.

Proceed as follows: - programme a control module, then configure it as the MODEL by setting the MODEL to ON. - the module will store definitively all parameters in memory, even after power has been cut off. - Place the module briefly (at least 20 seconds) on the boiler or on the wall bracket to which the parameters are to be transferred. - the parameters are saved automatically in the relevant boiler or wall bracket. Note: a module which is set as MODEL: YES may not be left on the installation (in this case, set theMODEL parameter to OFF).

line and scroll the parameters list. - The "# TEST OUTPUTS" page allows activating the outputs independently one after another in order to test their operation. Outputs may be switched off and on again with the or keys.
- The "# TEST INPUTS" page allows viewing the status of the logical inputs (i.e. other than sensors). - # CONFIGURATION - MODEL: this function allows programming an interactive remote control module that will be used as the standard. The MODEL module can be used for the rapid programming of several installations (e.g. in locations where a number of identical heating installations are used).
SENSORS TEST If any sensor circuit is cut off or shorted, the DIEMATIC regulator displays the corresponding message and an alarme is set off (see section 7. "MESSAGES ALARMS"). Sensors also can be checked by accessing the "# MEASURES" paragraph (see User settings table). The line is displayed only when the relevant circuit or sensor is connected. If the temperature is not displayed or if the deviation between the displayed and the actual temperature is too large, check the relevant sensor (ohmic value in section 2.3) and its connecting cable.

14.2 Use of the module as an interactive remote control with room sensor
The wall bracket integrates a room sensor which is assigned to circuit A, B or C. Originally, the coding of the IRC is: 1 (room sensor assigned to circuit A). Code the remote control as shown opposite to assign the room sensor to circuit A, B or C. Important: make sure not to assign the same coding twice (circuit A, B or C) in one installation to avoid malfunction.
