SONA presented concrete & beneficial achievements of Aquino govt

House members today lauded the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Aquino, describing it as excellent, substantive, realistic and credible. Rep. Romero Federico Miro Quimbo (2nd District, Marikina City) said the very detailed and substantive SONA showed the good governance of President Aquino which was backed up in his speech with the numerous accomplishments and plans of the government for the different sectors of society. Good governance does not only result in sound bites but in real development. The President has managed to undertake new progressive and innovative programs including increase in the budget for education without increasing taxes, said Quimbo, who was spokesperson of the House prosecution panel during the impeachment trial of former chief justice Renato Corona. Quimbo said the improvements in the Philippine economy, for instance, is a byproduct of the good governance of President Aquino. You have a growth rate that goes beyond everyones expectations! He is addressing the countrys problems from the top through good governance and institutional strengthening while he is addressing the concerns of the regular person through the Conditional Cash Transfer Program (CCT), said Quimbo, an Assistant Majority Leader. Quimbo said the President does not wait until the trickle down effect takes place. Its a bibingka approach: cooking the problem from the top and the bottom, he said. Rep. Isidro Ungab (2nd District, Davao City), Chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means, said it was the best SONA he had heard in many years. It was the best SONA. It was a very good report to the nation of the President about his administrations performance, thrusts and priorities in the next few years. It was a narration of the gains made in the past two years. It gives Filipinos hope that we still can rise as a nation and regain our honor as a people, said Ungab. Rep. Giorgidi Aggabao (4th District, Isabela) said President Aquinos SONA was credible as it shunned motherhood statements, preferring instead to present concrete and beneficial achievements of the government. The Presidents SONA is very good. No motherhood statements. The abundant facts detailed in the speech made it very credible. The usual plain and folksy way PNoy delivered his speech assured it was well understood by the masa. I will rate PNoys SONA

at 85 percent, said Aggabao a Vice Chairman of the Committees on Legislative Franchises, Ways and Means, and Public Works and Highways. Rep. This years SONA is better than in previous years. Rep. Jeci Lapus (3rd District, Tarlac) said overall, the Presidents SONA deserves a nine out of 10 rating for the solid accomplishments of the government. The SONA deserves a 9/10 rating. As we have witnessed, many applauded the President on the governments accomplishment for social services, classrooms and infrastructure. The comparison of accomplishments is really amazing. Kaya pala! It well deserved the applause, said Lapus, a Vice Chairman of the Committees on Accounts, Housing and Urban Development, and Reforestation. Lapus, said the targets were given by the President so they are very easy to monitor. Maybe a few items, like fuel, were not included and thats because we are only at the receiving end and have no control over them, he said. Nueva Vizcaya Rep. Carlos M. Padilla for his part said, Good delivery. If only 70 percent of what he said is realized, this country would be better off. (30) rbb
