Materials
Reading Material: Own PM+ Level books for each Objective: To check / monitor students progress in group (depends on reading and learn to have proper proficiency level of intonation and expression while reading. each student group) 1. Teacher reads book to students with proper intonation. 1 set for teacher, 1 for pupil 2. Ask each student to read an excerpt of the book aloud with the proper intonation. Student Worksheet 3. Teacher checks reading of each student. Lesson 5 While student reads: 4. Teacher corrects any mistakes made. 5. Students write down words not read correctly in their notebook /worksheet. 6. While teacher is assessing a particular student, the rest will read on their own while waiting for their turn.

SPELLING Objective: Students will recap understanding of sight words, CVCC, CCVC and silent e words through spelling and dictation. HA group: 7 words and 5 short sentences. (e.g. I like the boy.) MA group: 5 words and 5 short sentences. LA group: 3 words and 3 short sentences. 1. Teacher says out the words and sentences for the spelling and dictation. 2. Lesson INSTRUCTIONAL READING Objective: Students will learn to construct a story. 1. Hand out to each group strips of paper that contain a sentence each. 2. In their own groups, students arrange the sentences to form a proper story. 3. Check student work and highlight to students on proper sequence of events in forming a story. 4. Highlight the importance of problem and solution in a story. 5. Recap process in writing a story. (problem, sequence of events, solution)
Materials Teacher Resource Lesson 5 (Cut up strips of paper of a particular short story appropriate to the proficiency level of the group.) Note: Each student in the group gets a set. (to be pasted into their worksheet or notebook)

WRITING (WRITE A STORY) Objective: Students will learn to create a story from given words and short sentences. 1. Teacher hands out to students some words and sentences. 2. From the words and sentences used, students are to come up with a proper short story. 3. They must add their own words and sentences into the story to make the story complete. 4. Word limit for the story: Between 50 100 words. (depending on proficiency level of group) HA group: 7 words and 5 short sentences. MA group: 5 words and 5 short sentences. LA group: 3 words and 3 short sentences.

Oh dear! said Mum. We will have to move the cage out of the water.
Ben ran to Hoppos cage. He tried to move the cage but it was too heavy.
Ill take Hoppo out first, said Ben. Then she wont be scared when you move the cage.
Mum pulled the cage out of the water. She pulled it out across the grass and up to the big tree.
Ben put Hoppo back into her cage. Now you will be safe, he said.
