Volume 12, Issue 5 July 27, 2012 Candle Lighting 7:58

A Message from Division Head, Kelly Yedid:

Even though we were supposed to tone down the excitement this week due to the nine days, here at Camp Ora we just can't seem to keep the fun and good times away!! The girls had a blast when our Glamin ride bus pulled in. Hair, makeup, nails and glitter designs just for us gals! Basketball and football leagues kept the competition high. Go karting was introduced to our schedule and a giant division wide game of twister was a spectacle to behold. Our Bridgewater Ice Skating trip was hilarious and our bowling, field day sports, and picnic trip was a huge hit for our youngest campers. Cake decorating and sushi lunches satiated our appetites and were all looking forward to today's payday for campers, where play money is handed out to those who do good deeds and groups combine their earnings to bid on prizes. If this is toned down I can't imagine what happens when we tone it up! Shabbat Shalom, Love Kelly

A Message from Division Heads Danny Ash & Evan Bailey:

This week I honestly dont know where to begin, Im gonna try to fit it all in. Starting Monday we went to Seaside. We went on roller coasters over the oceanit went up so high we were able to see EVERYTHING!! Tuesday we went to Iplay, this great new place which had it all. Arcades, go karts, laser tag, and even a candy store! Wednesday we went ice skating with the Asians and were treated to Evans amazing skating skills. Thursday we started off in camp with go karts and then basketball leagues. The second game came down a buzzer beater free throw from our boy Galapo. The first game wasnt as close with Mirwis running away with it enjoying his new teammate Elliot Shamah. That was only the beginning of the day! For lunch we went to slices, and then the boys and girls parted ways. The girls went to gymnastics and the guys went to batting cages. On Friday we went to A Time to Kiln and painted ceramics. What a great week! Looking forward to the next one Shabbat Shalom, Danny & Evan

This week in the sports the 7th and 8th grade basketball league featured a wild and wacky ending to the premier match up of the week. The newly revamped New York Knicks, now headed by team captain Abe Galapo, were jolted by the presence of defensive X- Factor Adam Sutton pulling off a miracle come back to defeat the Lakers after Abe Galapo drained a game winning jump shot with three seconds left to play. In our other match up the Rockets handed the Thunder their first loss of the season as Yoseph Mirwis received player of the week honors with 23 points in a blowout win. Newly acquired vet Elliot Shamah helped the Rockets efforts in a big way and are now proving they are a team to be concerned with down the stretch. Our boys 5th and 6th grade football league is finally underway and is off to a great start! After going through an intense training camp the boys were finally ready to hit the grid iron. Albert Green led the way for the Jets with seven catches and three monster TDs including the game winner on the final drive. The Giants will look for revenge in next weeks battle. STANDINGS FOR 7TH, 8TH, & TNT Team Wins Loss 2 2 Lakers 3 1 Thunder 2 2 Rockets 1 3 Knicks Player of the week: Yoseph Mirwis with 23 points and 10 Rebounds.
