Confidence in buyers purchasing a sound investment in Papakura and Manurewa. George Wood,Angela Dalton (and Calum Penrose, who I do not have on Facebook), this is good for South Auckland and we must make sure we continue the confidence by providing infrastructure and facilities down here. It is not all about the CBD...

Less pricey suburbs draw the buyers - Business - NZ Herald News www.nzherald.co.nz Reluctance to buy homes in Auckland's less glamorous suburbs is disappearing as the areas replace the more picturesque North Shore and city spots as the most in-demand locations to

Ben Ross Where-what? If Councillor Dick Quax is up for Shrinking the Unitary Plan so it is easier to build or develop, regulation does not cost more than the actual product or development or simply council just keeping out of people's way in urban development then I'll have a talk with him

Ben Ross Right found the definition. Err George, $280,000 (which we paid for and I have mentioned in the Planning Hearings to Council) to $400,000 for higher end outside of Karaka is deemed affordable - at least to Professor Wendell Cox. If middle New Zealand do not have the Wherewithal for that price range then I am going to be blunt and say go visit CAB and get some budgeting tips fast

Angela Dalton I hear that houses in Wattle Downs are selling within a week, our resident real estate expertDylan Turner will be able to add some perspective to this. But really, the issue for Manurewa is enabling those that are not middle NZ the opportunity to become a home owner. Home ownership is one important key to ensuring house prices do not continue to drop in Manurewa and Papakura.

Ben Ross We have Addison that has vacant land available for affordable housing projects (the developer went bust) as well as the massive Mill Road Corridor Project. I agree Angela that Manurewa and Papakura need to work real closely to make sure ALL citizens can live in our wonderful area

Angela Dalton What Addison needed was better core infrastructure before it was built. Homes that were designed for home ownership for couples or small families are now rentals that can have up to 5 cars in the driveway, not enough street parking to cope,...See

Ben Ross I see your points there, I am just going back on some history here and probably need to check with Calum but the GFC put a massive brake on the infrastructure and even Town Centre development that was meant to happen. I am going through pap...See More

Angela Dalton There is no money for Walters Rd or 4 lanes on Great South Rd. The 3rd lane on the Southern motorway is planned for 2015 from Hill Rd to Takanini, the rest of the Southern will be staged later...ridiculous.

Ben Ross Yeah I have just seen that going through the AT papers. Sigh - I wonder if we can get some changes if we get a new council next year? BTW do you know what is being built at Walters Road behind Mitre 10 next to the rail line?
