Presidents Report from Kristin Ballard We held our Board meeting last week where several items were discussed and our rosters for the Relay for Life and the Royal Canberra Show were planned. Doug and I attended the presentation of Hilary Mackays beautiful artwork for the reflections room at the Queanbeyan Hospital at 11am last Friday all went very well except that the plaque had to be dummied up because of the short notice. The main artwork weighs some 200kgs which was framed in aluminium to enable it to be attached to the walls! Both artworks bring real beauty to the room. Make sure you visit the Hospital just to see it.

I look forward to seeing you at our meeting tonight where Ann Pratt from Home in Queanbeyan will be our speaker.

Red Cross is looking for committed volunteers who are interested in mentoring newly arrived young migrants and introducing them to The Pal-Ups program matches a trained volunteer with a teenage migrant, refugee or asylum seeker. The mentor and participant pair meet every fortnight, spending time doing fun activities as a way of getting to know each other, breaking down some of the cultural barriers typically faced by migrants as they settle into a new life. The qualities we look for in mentors include an open mind and a willingness to meet new people, have fun and treat others with dignity and respect. We'd especially love to hear from male volunteers, as the majority of our participants are boys in need of a great male role model. Phone 02 6234 7634
