Presidents Report from Kristin Ballard Well what a full on weekend with the Relay for Life but so successful on so many fronts. The rain tried to mess up setup on Friday night but still got done, Saturday went so well with only a little rain and our finish on Sunday was wonderful. Our egg & bacon rolls for Sunday bfast at 6am (!!!) went very well 109 rolls sold! So all sold out. So thanks all round to all those who contributed so much to this weekend Natalie, Andrew, Ron, Glenys, Joan, Amy, Bly, Don, Tim, Dian, Bill and me. Natalie and I will be attending the after meeting on Wednesday night so any suggestions good and bad - would be welcomed. This coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday are the Royal Canberra Show where we will be working with Canberra East at their food stall - enjoy. We held a meeting at breakfast (Sunday) and decided that with the full commitment to the Relay for Life weekend and the Royal Canberra Show that we would cancel our meeting this Wednesday 22 February we will have Amy Macdonald to speak to us later. The Queanbeyan Age dated 17 February had an article on Hilary Mackays beautiful artwork, and on the Relay for Life. Very pleased to see that the weather was fine for Geoff and Ebonys marriage and after a few days in hospital that Nerida was able to attend hope you all had a fantastic day.

Joke of the Week Holdup man: "Stick 'em up or else." Victim: "Or else what?" Holdup man: "Don't confuse me - this is my first job."

Red Cross is looking for committed volunteers who are interested in mentoring newly arrived young migrants and introducing them to The Pal-Ups program matches a trained volunteer with a teenage migrant, refugee or asylum seeker. The mentor and participant pair meet every fortnight, spending time doing fun activities as a way of getting to know each other, breaking down some of the cultural barriers typically faced by migrants as they settle into a new life. The qualities we look for in mentors include an open mind and a willingness to meet new people, have fun and treat others with dignity and respect. We'd especially love to hear from male volunteers, as the majority of our participants are boys in need of a great male role model. Phone 02 6234 7634
