5 What Is MDI? MDI stands for Multiple Document interface It means that we can have multiple documents and images open at the same time. 6 How to get an image into photoplus? Photoplus can open images saved in a wid varety of standard and acquire images from digital camera or scanner file formats,

Lesson 2 Manipulating the image 1. What are the main reasons to manipulate the images? There are many reasons to manipulate the photo like, a) Cleaning up an old, damaged photo b) Removing an unwanted item or text from the background c) Preparing an image for printing, use on the webpage 2. What is cropping? Removing of unwanted area from the image is called cropping 3. How did we crop the image? i) Select a region of pixels using any of the various selection tools and then use the image>crop to selection command. Or Ii) Choose the crop tool from the tools toolbar and drag out a crop selection around the image. Start at one corner and drag to the other. Once we release the mouse button, we can adjust the selection rectangle by dragging its edges or corners. Once we have selected the correct area, double-click within the Selection rectangle to complete the cropping 4. How can we adjust the brightness and contrast? Choose adjust>brightness/contrast from the image menu to open the brightness and Contrast filter dialog box. Up click after dragging a slider, the image updates or we can type the values directly in to the fields at the right

Write about Adjustable selection tools The adjustable selection tool offers 16 different variable selection shapes including pie, star, arrow, heart, wave, and so on The shape appears as a blue outline with two slider track bounding it. Each of the slider tracks has a square handle, and when you move the cursor on to the handle it will change to a small +sign. As we drag the sliders, the shapes properties change. 3. What is the use o Invert command? The invert command on the select menu selects the portion of the active layer outside the current selection. Unselected pixels become selected, and vice versa. 4. How to flip and rotate the image To flip, choose either Flip horizontally or flip vertically from the image menu, then select image, layer, or selection from the submenu.

To rotate, choose Rotate from the image menu to open the rotate dialog set the rotation angle (90, 180, or 270 degrees or enter a custom angle) and the direction select image, Layer, or selection and click ok. ************************************************************ Lesson 4 Adjusting colors

At the top of most of the dialogs there is a preview area, Zoom in or out by clicking on the Magnifier below the preview image. Alter the values by dragging on a slider, moving it to the left to decrease the value, or the right to increase the value, or enter a value in the fields at the right of the slider. 2. What is the use of Brightness/contrast? Brightness refers to overall lightness or darkness, while contrast describes the tonal range, or spread between lightest and darkest values 3. What is meant by Hue/saturation/lightness? Hue refers to the colors tint, saturation describes the colors purity, and lightness is what we intuitively understand as relative darkness or lightness ranging from full black at one end to full white at the other 4. How to apply the simple frame to photo i) On the layer manager tab click dropdown list ii) Select Multiply multiply always produces a darker value iii) On the color tab define black as the background color, either by right clicking in the spectrum or clicking the background swatch and setting its RGB value0,0,0 iv) Choose canvas size from the image menu. Add 4o to each value

The clone tool is one of the high-tech brush, it is used to make the copies from the original.To clone a region select the tool from the tools bar and set its properties the shift click where we want to begin copying; we will call this pickup point click and begin dragging somewhere else even in another image window where we want to begin placing the copied pixels term this putdown point It results a perfect copy 4. Write about fill tools fly out The fill tools fly out on the tools toolbar includes two tools; flood fill and Gradient fill The flood fill tool replaces an existing color region with the foreground color to apply the flood dill select the tool from the fly out. And set tolerance and layer fill options then just click with the tool where we want to start the flood The Gradient fill tool creates a spectrum effect, four types of gradient fill (linear, Radial, conical, and square) are available

5. How to apply gradient fill? To apply a gradient fill, select the tool from the fly out, and then use the tool properties tab to choose the gradient type and set an opacity range. Click with the tool where we want to start the fill, and drag a path to the point where we want it to end.
