Project Title: Project Green Computing Research Date: Prepared by: Project Justification: The environment technologies program just started, and the VP of Operations, Nathalie, is the program sponsor. Ito is the program manager, and there is a steering committee made up of ten executives, including Nathalie, overseeing the program. There are several projects underneath this program, one being the Green computing Research Project. The CIO and the project sponsor, Ben,has given this project high priority and plans to hold special interviews to hand-pick the project manger and team. Ben sponsored a project a large computer firm to improve data center efficiency. The main purpose of the Green Computing Research Project is to research possible applications of green computing including: Data center overall energy efficiency The disposal of electronic waste and recycling Telecommunicating Virtualization of server resources Thin client solutions Use of open source software, and Development of new software to address green computing for internal use and potential sale to other organizations. Product Characteristics and Requirements: The goal is to provide extensive report, including detailed financial analysis and recommendations on what green computing technologies to implement. Official project request forms for the recommended solutions would also be created as part of the project. The main products will be a series of research reports. One of each green computing technology listed early one final report including all data plus formal project proposals for at least four recommendations for implementation some of these technologies. Summary of Project Deliverables Project management-related deliverables: wtd decision matrix, charter, changerequest form, scope statement, WBS, issue log, lesson learned report and any other documents required to manage the project.Project Web Site Gantt Chart, a series of research reports: one for each green computing technology and one final report including all data. Plus formal project proposals for at least four recommendations for implementing some of these technologies. Twenty project Ideas should be proposed and four will be will be selected recommended based on the extensive analysis. Product-related deliverables: research reports, design documents, software code, hardware, etc.
