MOTIVATION TO PURSUE MY MASTER DEGREE My decision to seek for admission to pursue Master degree in engineering or technology is largely inform

by my experience since childhood and my working experiences gain over the years till now. These experiences can be summarized in three dimensions as follows: First dimension; Experiences from childhood: I come from one of the most rural and poor region of my country that is in the Volta region of Ghana. At an early age of eight, my family lived adjacent to a couple that had just return from Soviet Union on studies. The man was an engineer. A very lovely and a jovial man, who took interest in all the young boys within the vicinity. He taught us in his leisure time, pick us in his car when the opportunity arises each time he went to his factory, and indeed he become to some of us a role model and an inspirer for success. In the development of my career, the impact this man had on me, contributed in my opting to read electronic engineering, a very strong desire which almost got quench because my family would rather want me to read health related programme.I was then left with the choice of going the only professional public health training institution in the country. A choice which has help me in discovering my talents, skill and desired career for life, based on the impact I could contribute to the advancement of my community ,nation and the entire human race. Second dimension: Experience from work; Working as a Disease control officer, my interest was on Public health, data management, Health education, and Training and Community mobilization for Health intervention activities. In the course of my duties, especially during community mobilization health services, to rural communities. I found myself saying always with education most of these diseases could be prevented.

While in-charge of Health education, HIV/AIDs, TB and Guinea worm control in the Municipality, the stories were not different. Ignorance on the part of both young and old on many health issues were most paramount disclosure I always get. It dawn on me the that I should contribute to improving the plight of the people I love very much but the opportunity in my country are very scanty as no university has any public health related course at first degree level. I quickly enrolled first to study Data and Information systems management with specialization in Software engineering ,Statistics, economics with management and projects management with the intention of proceeding at the masters level immediately in Software engineering .But only no University at this time offers for degree in software at the masters level. Hence I was privileged to be introduced to your outfit by a friend. Whiles vigorously working with the Ghana health Service as deputy Municipal disease control officer to finance 100% of tuition, I was privileged to be appointed as the trainer of trainers, programme manager for HIV/AIDs, TB, Guinea Worm control programs. These I do with outstanding results and not compromising the high G.P.A maintained in the University. The experience I had in executing these most challenging project strategies saw me with some deficits in pursueing my dream of engineering in general. Whiles working on these above mentioned tasks I was elected the project Director by The NUNYA Foundation a Ghanaian NGO working on health, Nutrition and environment in rural communities of Ghana, and implementing child survival projects in partnership with many agencies, I realize the deficiencies in software programs run of many offices. The combined effect of the three major experiences as a public health professional ,a project manager and a Student saw me coming to on logical conclusion a well developed software will have long life and reduced a lot of end user problems How can that be done? One person can definitely not do the job. What it requires then is educating more people to help but that cannot be done if I do not have the knowledge myself. Should I be offered this opportunity, that will enable me to impact my knowledge to my colleagues. b In summary, my desire to make an impact in my society in whom I see reason to work hard is what is motivating me to pursue the programme. Of cause to make an impact one has to take into account ones ability and what one can do best.
