Jam 4 Cans 2012

The Lake Edition

Jam 4 Cans

Jam 4 Cans is an event for wakeboarders, wakeskaters and stand-up paddleboarders with the goal of raising funds for local charities and promoting a community awareness of their needs. For the last three years Summit Northwest Ministries has put on winter rail jam events. They have been well attended, with the event this spring bringing in over 30 riders and more than 300 spectators. Over 1000 lbs of food were collected for local food banks and over $1200 raised for local food banks. Last Summer we did our first lake event on Newman Lake, Wa. This year we have moved the event to Hayden Lake and partnered with Camp MiVoden for a bigger and better event than last year. Weve also added a Stand-Up Paddleboard Race to the mix. We hope youll be a part of this great event and make a difference in your local community. When: Sunday Afternoon/Evening, Aug 26 from 1:00-7:00 P.M. Where: Camp MiVoden, Hayden Lake, ID Why: Cause we love to ride and our community needs our help. The Setup Were still working on the details but will have both rail and kicker features. Charities Benefited Post Falls and CDA Food Banks Other Activities In addition to the rail jam and paddleboard race, there will also be food, raffles, contests, etc. All proceeds from the rail jam will be donated to the food banks. To be more effective in supporting local charities, we are seeking event sponsors. These may be from within the wakeboard/paddleboard industries or other community businesses. There are several ways a company, organization, or individual can be involved in helping us impact our community. Ways to sponsor Well be putting together prize packages for the winners of the rail jam, as well as having raffles and prizes open to anyone attending the event. Sponsors can donate swag to be used in these giveaways. Sponsors may donate food, cash, or items to Summit Northwest Ministries to be given to the charities. Sponsors may donate volunteer services such as event prep and tear down, photo and video coverage, etc. What sponsors will receive A receipt for all funds or items donated to be used for tax deduction purposes if desired. Event sponsors will be mentioned and thanked several times during the event. For monetary donations we have two sponsorship levels: $100-$499 and $500+. Well announce these sponsors several times throughout the afternoon and have the level they participated at posted. A great way to support the community and get some exposure. Sponsors are welcome to supply banners, brochures, etc. to be displayed around the event location. Sponsors are invited to attend the event personally and are welcome to set up a table (as space allows) in order to interact with the attending public. For more info... We believe that this event is both newsworthy and a great way for the press to positively impact the community they serve. While the event has many aspects that will be of interest to viewers/readers/listeners, any publicity it receives will also draw attention to the benefiting charities and their needs. Please partner with us in raising public awareness of the needs of these organizations that serve our community. Ways your media outlet can be involved Event Advertisement: Anything from audio and video spots, to articles and entries on event calendars would be helpful in letting the public know about our event. The more people we can bring in, the more we will be able to help those in need. Event Coverage: Wed love to have personnel on site to cover the event and relay to the public the needs of the charities. We would also be willing to send video footage, pictures, and information if it would aid in getting the word out. For more info... To find out more about the event and let us know how we might be able to accommodate your needs, contact Caleb Foss at 509-995-7232 or caleb@summitnorthwest.org.

In 2004 a small group of committed Christians needed to do something different. Not satisfied with doing church as they had Who are we? always done it, this group started over. All they had was a bit of equipment, a few friends and a dream. This dream was of a church where hurting, confused, depressed, and disenfranchised people could find hope, encouragement, love, acceptance and salvation. Much has changed in the last six years, but the mission has not. In fact this desire to share our loving God with hurting people so that they can experience His transforming power in their lives has become our statement of purpose and the driving force behind what we do. Summit Northwest Ministries is not content to just be a country club church; our goal is to make a difference in peoples lives. We do this in the following ways. Locally We have conducted many service projects to help our neighbors with yard work, getting firewood wood, home repair projects, food, Christmas gifts, holiday dinners, free breakfasts, pet blessing services and countless other acts of friendship and love. Internationally Many in our congregation have accepted the call to mission service from a few weeks to a year or longer in places like Africa, Micronesia, Eastern Europe, South America and Africa. Philippines We have specifically adopted projects on the small island of Guimaras in the Visayan region of the Philippines. Several students have been assisted with post secondary education. Health Care Workers and a Day Care System have been established to provide for below normal nutrition needs of impoverished children. Suriname Summit Northwest Ministries has been instrumental in helping to develop a documentary on the plight of the indigenous peoples of Suriname. This documentary has taken awards in many film festivals in the Caribbean and Ecuador, as well as having been given multiple showings on national TV in Suriname. In the Spring of 2011 it has been requested to be shown at the Smithsonian Film Festival for Indigenous Peoples. It truly is making a difference for hundreds of thousands of people in Suriname and beyond who prior to this documentary had no way to tell their story. In short, Summit Northwest Ministries is still compelled by the love of Christ to make a difference locally, regionally and internationally. Though small in number we will continue to
