Mary Emmanuelle A.Axalan CRS-4 1. What were your initial expectations? Have these expectations changed? How? Wh y?

-My initial expectation was that I was going to find a bunch of rowdy kids. When we did get to Antipolo the kids arent really rowdy but playful and very cheerful . Yes they were loud and a bit too hyper but their happiness was very infectious that you couldnt help but being attached to them. 2. What specific skills have you used at your community/institution? -I used my social skills to interact with the community. 3. Describe a person you ve encountered in the community who made a strong impre ssion on you, positive or negative. -Elmera, my partner, left a strong impression on how I look at my relationship w ith my siblings. Shes still close with her elder sister even though they are a de cade apart and has a sibling that was taken from them for ransom that they could nt pay. Her story makes me want to cherish my siblings more and let them know I l ove them. 4. Has the experience affected your worldview? How? -Yes, it has. This experience has shown me that people may smile all the time but they have lots of worries in them to the point that their smiles is a coping mechanism so that they wont be too stressed and think about their future. 5. What did you do that seemed to be effective or ineffective in the community? -I think the most effective thing I did was talking to the kids there. I t helped them open up about their dreams and worries relieving them a little str ess. 6. What are the most difficult or satisfying parts of your work? Why? -the most difficult was meeting the kids cause I felt that they were cau tious and wary of us but the most satisfying was when we got closer, I felt like I did my job and became a part of their life even if its just for a day but I kn ow when we see each other again we wont start awkward again anymore. 8. How are your values expressed through your community work? -My values were expressed by the way I listened to my partner. I respect ed her and gave her advice on her problems. I truly respect Elmera expecially wi th what happened to her sister, shes younger than me but seems more mature. 9. If you could do the project again, what would you do differently? -I would have brought my own camera.
