Course Description : Students will explore many avenues of theatre including a variety of theatre experiences, an introduction to design and production, the basics in acting, and an overview of theatre history. Theatre History 3 weeks Mask making, Commedia Performance 2. Set Design 2 weeks Floor plan drawings 3. Costume Design 2 weeks - Thumbnail and Detailed costume sketches 4. Make-up Design 1 week Paper make-up designs and a make-up morgue 5. Lighting Design 1 week 6. Improvisational Acting 1 week Participation in acting exercises 7. Text/Other Required Materials/Resources : Notebook that is solely used for acting notes - Pen or Pencil at all times Instructional Procedures : Notes should be taken in your theatre notebook and there will be periodic checks which will be graded. Students are required to participate EVERYDAY in all activities.

Expectations for Student Preparation, Performance, and Participation:

Assignments should be handed in in a timely manner. Students will have a DAILY participation grade.

Attendance/Administrative Procedures :

If you are tardy, you must receive a pass from the office to come to class. You must sit in your assigned seat. This is how I take attendance. Bathroom passes are a privilege. You must ask to use the restroom at appropriate times, not in the middle of lectures, etc. Only will student will be out of class at a time FOR ANY REASON. Passes are on the back of the door. No FOOD, GUM OR DRINKS (OTHER THAN WATER) ARE ALLOWED IN MY CLASS.

20% of your grade is class participation. 40% of your grade is project grades. 40% of your grade is quiz and test grades. *At the end of the semester, there will be a written final exam that is worth 20% of your overall semester grade. Opportunities for Extra Help and Assistance: 25 points extra credit will be awarded for seeing play productions that are recommended by me. 50 points extra credit will be awarded for seeing RHHS play productions. 50 points extra credit will be awarded for participating in an after school extracurricular play production at RHHS.
