Alternatives
John 6:68 But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Peter got it right. Sometimes there are no substitutes or alternatives. Where else can we go, indeed. We are used to having alternate choices. Suppose you go to a restaurant and the wait time is just too long. There is someplace else to go. There is a fast-food place on just about every major intersection. Suppose the grocery store no longer carries the brand of pickles that you want. There is another one a short distance down the road. Suppose the stylist doesn't style your hair the way you want. Every one of your friends has someone to recommend to you. Suppose the doctor you have trusted with your health starts telling you that you have to change your diet and lose weight. There are starving doctors all over town. Just take your pick. We are used to having alternate choices. Now suppose the church, where you are a member, doesnt tickle your fancy like you want. Well, the fact is that there are many others. In some towns, it is hard to throw a rock without hitting a church building. Choices are abundant. Even if you want to stick to a certain brand there are more than likely several options open to you. You can do a little searching and find the one that fits your desires. You know the saying: Attend the Church of Your Choice. We believe in choice. It is the American way. Jesus gave us a choice, but it was a pretty limited choice. The choice is life or destruction, words or the words of life. Peter knew. Peter expressed it. Its your choice, but choose Jesus. Russ
