CHILDREN & YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

Sondra Ladd, Children/Youth Ministry Director youth@fcc-stillwater.org

WNF programming was established long before my arrival at FCC over 10 years ago. Wednesday nights at FCC are something that many in this congregation consider some of our most important and effective ministry. It is an opportunity for all ages to gather and enjoy a meal but it also includes so much more. This year in conjunction with First Things First, we will be hosting Fellowship First, beginning Sept. 5th. Dinner will begin at 6:00. Judith Elliott and Chuck Willoughby along with numerous volunteers are coordinating the kitchen efforts again this year. Marta Kochenhower will continue cooking this year; and if you havent yet sampled the delicious meals she puts together, you are really missing out! The focus for Fellowship First is to provide ways for our congregation to grow through opportunities for communication and interaction. You have the option of participating in one class throughout the entire session, or trying out a different option weekly. Here are the first session choices: Music Ministry EVERYONE will agree that music is powerful and touches us heart, soul, spirit and mind. The music ministry option will allow you to experience the various music ministries at FCC first hand. Week One will be Playing, Pickin and Grinnin with Ival Hesser and Friends. You are welcome to bring along an instrument (guitar, tambourine, etc.) or just sing along with some old time gospel favorites. Week Two will focus on Chancel Choir and David Hughes will lead. Handbells, Praise Team, and Special Music Talents and Youth Praise Team will be highlighted various weeks. Anyone who loves music is encouraged to participate, not only in the sessions highlighting the music you love, but in all the sessions. Our hope is that all participants will gain a greater understanding and appreciation of all music types. Dream Team for more than a year a committee worked to develop a mission statement based on ideas and input from various members of this congregation. Because our mission statement is more than a few sentences written on a piece of paper, we would like to take visioning to the next level with the Dream Team discussion group. This group will take the six areas of focus determined by the mission team and discuss ideas of action. This group is for those who relate to the ideas established by the mission team and are ready to see things taken to the next level. Service This church always places value on action over words. This group is exactly what the name says. There will be opportunities provided each week to serve this church, the community and the world. If you have a heart of action and are looking for ways to do something, this is the group for you. One hour a week may not seem like a lot of time to accomplish a lot of good, but please remember that every effort counts.
