SUGGESTIONS There is enough content in this routine and with the addition of a Thematic Dance, most Under 9 teams would have plenty to work with and be challenged. However, with a more experienced team, there may be a need to set further challenges. Here are some suggestions from a past DDA Development Director that may be useful or the Team Coach may create his / her own. At the Start, teams may introduce the Stand at Ease actions. Introduce Special Drills and Turns from the Under 12 Technical Drill Routine to be executed instead of the Mark Time Pivots. Add your own marching movement after the Eyes Right but prior to the March Off over the Right Side Boundary. ie a Slow Step, change of formation, add a Salute to the Eyes Right, holding the Left hand/arm steady at the side or design your own. Remember the intent of the routine is to encourage a better standard of basic drill, so keep movements simple, concise and achievable. ADJUDICATION It is important to mention that the adjudication, in this instance, is to assess the performance of the Coach and the level to which he or she has successfully taught the team members to perform the most basic skills. At no point should teams or team members feel that they have been examined. For each category, Judges will be required to make an assessment out of 10 (the higher being the better skill level). A total assessment out of 100 will be the Coachs challenge and reward. Coaches should use the scoresheet as a guide on which skills/drills to improve and as a guide on how well they are progressing. Used on a week to week, performance to performance basis, the scoresheets can be used to graph progress and as a quick measure for continued success or subsequently, to point out the obvious areas that require more attention.
