OUTLINE ROUNDTABLES
1. NAVIGATING THE COMMUNICATIONS LABYRINTH
How to keep the technology conversation flowing. IT is under increasing pressure to explain to the c-suite, clients and end users its technology strategy and long term vision. Theres also pressure to communicate more broadly, with CIOs often tapped for interviews by the specialist technology or legal media. So how can you effectively get your message across to all these stakeholder groups?
Seems to be a lot of articles floating around about leveraging the immense volume of data that companies have access to, yet most are yet to realise the full potential. Join this table to discuss how best to manage your data.
Privacy, client confidentiality, professional privilege and data sovereignity - and everything else you wanted ot know about the cloud but were afraid to ask.
This roundtable will have two functions: to explore how and why lawyers need to come to terms with the full benefits of a modern IT platform and the role of the legal IT professional in optimising the delivery of legal services. Research confirms that where the skills, capabilities, needs and expectations of clients, IT personnel and lawyers are aligned and where the contribution to the service supply chain is better understood improved financial returns ensue. It is more than having the best technology platform and the best lawyers it is about creating a bridge between the two for their mutual benefit and that of the clients.

PICKING THE BEST FRUIT APPLE OR BLACKBERRY?
The world of technology is always moving at a fast pace and the company at the lead seems to be Apple. Does this mean the death of Blackberry? With the onslaught of Apple - will law firms go Apple all the way and change their current systems for easier connectivity Phil Scorgie | Business Transformation Consultant | NORTON ROSE
Lawyers take a pragmatic approach to getting the job done. Lately this has given rise to lawyers choosing electronic devices over mounds of paper where possible. When you get repeated requests for having thousands of documents in a portable and easily accessible format you need to listen and find a solution. The iPad is an excellent tool for meeting these needs... as long as you have the right App for the job. This session looks at the complexities of developing your own in-house apps, including security and other aspects that need to be considered in the development process. It will showcase Corrs Briefcase app which allows their lawyers to securely access documents on iPads. Brian Borskjaer Legal Technology Solutions Director CORRS CHAMBERS WESTGARTH
