Topic: Infrastructure is the basis of all development.

What I wrote: I agreed to the point throughout and gave examples of a

college....how it cannot function if it does not have proper classrooms and then
moved on to the example of a nation..how it cannot function without proper
roads etc

GD topic: Business should address the upliftment of the poor

We were asked to introduce ourselves and then give our individual opinion. Then
we were asked to enter the GD.It was an unusual GD because the moderators
were also putting forward their views along the course of discussion.

I spoke about e-chowpal, how they had helped the poor along wid doing
business. Also spoke abt other companies dat hav social programmes. Also said
dat they shud help the poor to increase their consumer base. The discussion was
5-7 min long. I had 2-3 entries.

P/I: Was not nervous. First examined my memos.

Q: Tell me abt yourself.

A: I am originally frm Assam and did my intermediate there. After that I moved
to Hyd and completed my graduation in genetics last year. My father is civil engg.
and my mother is a housewife. My hobbies are reading English classics and
singing. My idol in life is Swami Vivekananda.

GD was tight. I could enter only twice or thrice, it was dominated by two north
Indian boys, but group task and interview was good and went off well.

GD topic: Foriegn MNCs are eroding the cultural heritage of India. Do you agree?

sir many of the questions were asked to know my opinion on various issues, don't
know whether the panel was convinced with my replies but still they weren't against
it.

There would have been around 40 students for the morning session. Initially they
verified all the documents they had asked us to bring along. Then we were split into
3 teams of 14 each and taken to separate rooms for the GD.

Each GD was moderated by 3 faculty members. they had 3 envelopes. one of us had
to pick out 2. then for the next five minutes we had to discuss among ourselves and
choose one topic. after that around 5 minutes for thinking. and 8 minutes for the GD.
the two topics for the gd were 'globalisation vs nationalism' and 'markets when left
free encourage greed'.

My group came to a decision very fast. we opted for choosing the topic by going by
the majority votes. we chose the second topic. 'markets when left free encourage
greed'.

The discussion started off on a mild tone. after some time people were hurrying to
put across their points ( i suppose everyone started feeling the pressure of 14 people
and 8 minutes). i got air time twice. but on one occasion i got cut in by another. i
had an almost central seating position. one person in the group was absent.

Overall the gd was very peaceful and there was no fish market situation. i was told
that in some gds the moderators had to step in and tell the group to maintain at
least a basic level of decency. after the gd, all of us had to put across our views on
the topic for about a minute. after that, we were handing a paper on which we had
to write down a summary of ALL THAT WAS DISCUSSED in the gd.

We were then asked to wait outside and get in for the PI in the same order as our gd
seating arrangement. i was number 7.

Interview

the PI for all was short.. lasting for about 5-8 minutes. no technical questions.. some
were asked what was there in that day's newspaper.. then the usual questions like
'why MBA.. why IMT.. ' here is how my interview went.. the 3 GD moderators took
my interview.. 2 sirs and a lady. i'll name them s1, s2 and L.

the moment i was seated, S1 asks me something. I didnt understand a word. I asked
"pardon sir'.. He repeated what he said.. I still couldnt understand a thing. i suddenly
got this fear that i was talking to some north indian with an english accent so
unintelligible.. i gave a smile and a puzzled face and said 'i'm sorry sir. but i dont
think i can make out wot u r trying to say'... He smiled a bigger smile and repeated
his question... then it struck me.. he was actually talking in french! ( i had written
down 'topped the beginners french course conducted by alliance francaise' as one of
my achievements). but i had learnt it after my 10th standard and was completely out
of touch with it.. i thought for a moment and replied quickly in english.. he smiled.. i
said 'i'm out of touch with it. but i understood wot u were trying to convey'.. he
asked me if i could reply in french.. after a second i replied in french..

now S2 asked me another question in french to which i gave a prompt reply in

french.

S2 asked me a third question but i knew the meaning of only one word.. i told him
the meaning of that word and mentioned that i had only done a beginners course
and i am completely out of touch with it now.. they immediately told me 'oh
please..relax.. no problems at all.. we can understand that.. in fact its good because
if u asked us anything in french, we would have struggled'..

then there was a general talk on alliance francaise and the courses they offiered. all
this while L was silent and looking down at some papers in front of her. S

1 told her to take over. she then asked 'u r working in HCL Technologies right.. when
did u join.. what are u doing now... can u explain what an object is...'.

after that s1 asked me how many states and UTs India has... L got up and went
outside in between.. i was asked to name the UTs..

after that s2 asked me 'are you beautiful'... i started off on a little general talk saying
beauty is not just what is on the outside.. its also whats on the inside..

S1 then cut me short and said 'He was asking if u r beautiful.. he wasnt asking about
ur face or personality'... then i promptly said "yes, i am beautiful'..

S1 and S2 had a big smile... and S2 asked me "do you have a boy friend'.. i said
'no'... s2 - 'are you sure?'.. i said yes.. then s2 asked me 'in that case can i be your
boy friend'... i flashed a big smile and said 'Why not'.. s2 and s1 were laughing.

then L came back.. s1 and s2 asked her if she wanted to ask anything.. she said 'no..
interview is over.. thank you'...

my interview would have lasted around 8 minutes i suppose.. s1 and s2 were very
jovial..

after the morning session - i was still there, waiting for a friend to arrive and take
me to my place of residence in bangalore, they came out of the interview room. i
was on the phone, talking to my mother. they flashed a big smile at me then...

I had atteneded the GD and Interview for IMT Ghaziabad.

We were given two topics and asked to select one. The two topics were:

1. Thieves are more intelligent than cops.

2. One cannot contribute much to society in a corporate world.

We chose the first topic. The time alloted was ten minutes for discussion and two
minutes for the initial viewpoints of the topic.

After the time allotted was over each member was allotted a time of one minute to
