August 2012

Dear Friend, Greetings to you on this beautiful summers day! Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before, is a song we sing in church sometimes, and it is so very true! It still thrills my soul to realize how much He loves each of us. No matter what we go through, the love of God is deeper, stronger, and full of promises for every new day so we can be overcomers! There is a Scripture in the Bible that reinforces my faith in God every time I read it. Paul wrote in Romans 8:35: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Have you ever felt separated from Gods love? We know it is impossible for that to happen! I have known by experience that it is not possible for God to suddenly stop loving His people. He may get angry at us for our actions. He may not agree with our choices. He may be disappointed in us for the things we think, say, and do, but He never stops loving us! Sin may separate us from Him for a time, but if we will repent (which we all need to do from time to time!), and draw nigh to Him, He will draw nigh to us. If we confess our sins to Him, the Bible says, ...He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9). Paul addressed this letter to the Christians in Rome at a time of upheavals and persecutions and tribulations. He wanted these Gentile converts to know that no matter what they faced from unbelievers or situations they were going through, that nothing could separate them from the love of Christ. No person could say or do anything to them that could keep God from loving them. He didnt say tribulations would never knock on their doors. He wouldnt tell them that they would never feel distressed or persecuted. He could not assure them that they would never have a hunger pain or two, or that they would walk through this life without being in peril. But He could confidently tell them that nothing could separate them from the love of Christ! He told them that they could be secure in that knowledge because he experienced the love of Christ while he was yet a sinner and throughout his Christian experience. Gods hand was upon Paul from the beginning of time. He said these powerful words, But when it pleased God, who separated me from my

mothers womb, and called me by His grace, To reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the heathen... (Galatians 1:15 & 16). If God had a plan for Paul while he was yet in his mothers womb, could He have a plan for you, too? Could that be a reason why you may feel like you dont fit into the schemes of the world? Could Gods call on your heart be the thing that separates you from the way everyone else thinks and acts? If you hear His call deep in your heart, dont harden your heart and close your spiritual ears to it: respond to Him by obedience. You will never be satisfied outside of that call, so why fight it? We spend too much energy resisting the call of God in our lives: no wonder were exhausted! I can tell you this about the call of God: it is far different than the call the world gives you. He will never abuse you, misuse you, or condemn you (we tend to do a very good job of that ourselves!). His love may correct us, but Almighty God is not interested in condemning us the way the world condemns us. He is looking for you to give Him your life so He can build you up! He desires to bless you so you can be a blessing to Him and others in the world around you! Make no mistake about it: if God calls you from the world unto Himself, He will give you all the tools you need to serve Him. He is looking for you to give Him your life so He can build you up! You wont have to fix anything before coming to Him, for He will do all the fixing necessary! He may not want your changes anyway. Who can separate us from the love of Christ? No one and nothing! Let me encourage you to give Him your heart today. Dont delay, for now His offer of love and salvation is extended to you. May God bless you today and always! I invite you to our church. We are located at 624 Torringford West Street in Torrington, CT. Our schedule of services is Sunday at 10 AM and 7 PM, and Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
